A wonderfully supportive and loving environment - EXCELLENT instructors!
I was incredibly disheartened when I first moved here from VA- it seemed like all of the yoga studios I went to were a "scene" that had far more to do with showing off and competition and only the physical side of yoga than anything else. I often felt uncomfortable and stopped practicing because I either felt judged by the instructor or judged by fellow students. When I found WYC it was like being enfolded in this amazingly warm and loving community where I felt nurtured by students and teachers alike...it felt like I grew in my practice and in my own self the very first class I attended. Just being in such an environment opened me up to begin growing into my best self - my higher self - putting me more in touch with not only my body but more importantly my heart as well. In every class I've been to there's a wonderful mix of individual and group attention and I feel like adjustments are given in such a loving and gentle manner that is so refreshing to find. I've had classes with many of the different instructors and can honestly say that they are all EXCELLENT! I really appreciate the exposure to a lot of the ancient teachings and yogic philosophy, which makes each class a full experience attending to way more than the physical. I cannot even begin to scratch the surface of how much I love this place, especially not in 2000 characters or less. Go to one class and see for yourself - I promise you'll fall in love with it!Best Studio in the City!
The World Yoga Center is my piece of mind in the big city. From the moment you walk in, the staff makes you feel welcome and apart of the yoga community. The classes lack the pretention that other studios may have, and are in now way "show off" classes. This is studio is not about achieving that flying warrior, but your own personal best. Whether you are new to yoga, or have been studying for a few years; there are classes here for you. This studio is my home away from home, so much so that I commute all the way from Brooklyn to get here 3 times a week.a haven for yogis
The WYC offers a haven of quiet and light in the midst of bustling city life. WYC instructors are committed to guiding students on a path of reaching their full potential, both on and off the mat. The classes are sometimes playful and joyful, sometimes quiet and meditative, and always give a sense of strength, peace, and balance. The WYC brings rootedness to the physical practice, expansiveness to the spiritual practice, and cohesion and nurturance to a community of warm-hearted yogis. Practice at the WYC has changed my life for the better, both on and off the mat.Great sense of community
I've been to so many studios in Manhattan that are all about image. I do yoga to escape from a world full of scrutiny and judgment - why should anyone concern themselves with what I wear to practice? At WYC, there is a feeling of unconditional acceptance from the moment you walk in the door. The teachers make every effort to push you, while celebrating the addition you've made to the community just by showing up. Bravo. The Only Yoga School You'll Want to Go to
The World Yoga Center is tucked away on the upper west side of New York and has been there since 1972. The Yoga they offer is powerful and deeply transformative. If you become a regular WYC student you will feel as if you?ve been gently placed in a peaceful current and your life will begin to ?flow with grace.?Ehh1
I've been wanting to try this studio for awhile and wasn't impressed. I felt like they needed to hose the place down. There was hair everywhere. I know there's lots of chicks who do yoga but it was sort of gross. The class was good. The teacher was really great. I kind of wanted less explanation but it was cool.Great Therapeutic Class
After being injured for about five months I was looking for a yoga studio that would offer not only restorative classes but a therapeutic class, something that would be slow and thorough enough to allow recovery and strengthening. They have the perfect class if this is what you need. I saw results right away. The class was guided by Marjorie, a gentle and funny teacher who had absolutely no problems taking the time to explain postures and help you achieve proper alignment. The space was very peaceful as well.Worldwide > United States > New York, NY > Active Life
