High pressure sales, unprofessional staff
There are far better facilities in the area. The staff spends more time talking to each other than providing services. Counter help had alcohol on her breath. Talk about bad atmosphere

worst gym in the area
this gym is a money trap they already lost one of there other locations due to not paying rent, and now they are trying to sign up as many people as they can and do the same, look on the beter b.bwebsite they failed a big F... i have been a member at this location for a few years right when the new owners took over it has been down hill from there, one owner doesnt know how to speak to anyone hes a little D!ck to everyone, the other 2 owners down know how to call people back and they have drunks working there, the gym is dirty and old nothing is new they promise all new tred mills they bought tred mills from a gym that closed that were just as old as the ones they took out. do not join this gym you will be sorry there are much better with in 5 mins away,

My husband and I recently joined this gym and we really like it. We found the staff to be very friendly and very knowledgable. Sure, its not the newest gym in town, but then again, it doesn't come with the membership price tag of a newer gym. It has all the equipment and classes needed to get in shape and stay in shape. We feel very motivated while working out at this gym.

world gym of shelby township, mi
This World Gym has recently been purchased by the owner of the plaza this gym sits in. The previous owners did not pay their bills and went out of business. The problem lies with the shady staff who are STILL employed there. They knew for months the financial problems and STILL took new memberships AND let new members pay for months/years in advance KNOWING the deals would not be honored. This is not only dishonest, it's down right "dirty". I was only screwed out of $100 dollars I know others who lost considerably more. This "business" was never once ran professionally and the gym is littered with meatheads. Lifters with a little size on them throw weights around, leave them on the bar/machines, yell and grunt like apes plus constantly harass the women. It is definetly not a family or friendly environment. The gym has a new name now, same garbage equipment as well. I believe it's name is something like SHELBY TOWNSHIP FITNESS CENTER, but like I said, same shady staff and crookedness. The remodeling won't help 20 year old gym equipment that doesnt half work. I have been to gyms all over the world and this is the worst gym I have EVER attended.

No Longer World Gym
Hi all. Good news. This gym has not been a World Gym franchise for quite some time, and they will no longer be able to ruin the World Gym name. The landlord is scheduling to remove the old World Gym signage within the next 3 weeks.

DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM
My Husband and I were memebers of this gym. We paid for a year long membership. The gym has since closed and is now called Shelby Township Fitness or something else as a previous person has also commented. This gym was taking people's money right up until the day it opened under new owners. And you would think the new owners would honer the memberships or at the very least, give people a couple months of free membership especially while they are remodeling(seeing that it is a dump). Spread the word around to everyone. DO NOT JOIN SHELBY FITNESS at 23 MILE RD and Schoenherr. I'm giving it a one start rating only because I'm forced to rate it.

Rejoined Completely Satisfied
I was a member while this was "World Gym" under the previous owner. From what I have been told the landlord and his daughter have taken over the operations. I thought what the heck, the facility is close to my business so why not rejoin and give them a second chance. Monthly membership prices are great and the equipment I use in my workouts have been in good condition. In my opinion they still need to get rid of a couple of ex employees, but so far I am satisfied and recommend to everyone to give them a second chance and they will be satisfied.Worldwide > United States > Utica, MI > Gyms and Fitness
