Atmosphere is SOOO bad with cooler noise out of control, and no music to cover it up.
We've been going to Via Delizia since they opened. Breakfast, lunch and desserts of gelato. We initially loved the atmosphere of the olive tree, the lanterns that hang from it, the faux brick wall making you feel like your in a courtyard.... but they don't play music or anything and ALL YOU HEAR IS THE COOLER and the staff banging around pots in back. This has happening for months and months now.... and I've even nicely hinted each time how great some light music would be, and they respond 'uh, yeah, it would", that's the end of it... next time we went, nope. We have passed along MANY recommendations to friends, coworkers, out of town guests, etc. because of the unique interior... and honestly, they even commented on how oddly loud the cooler was with customers seeming to talk quietly under it's annoying hummmmm.Via Delizia, high promisses with no return
I love going to this place, I have been ever since I moved to the city a year ago. Built a nice relationship with some of the servers but yesterday my friend returned from the marines and he had not eaten restaurant food in three months. We decided to go to Via Delizia, my friend was in uniform and we sat on the patio. Ordered food and waited. Five other groups sat next to us outside and all of them ordered, recieved food, and payed before we even recieved our food. Probably took about an hour, the waitress said that there was a mix up and the food was coming. But truthfully, it was obvisous that she just forgot to put the order in. I know that there are mistakes in the industry and it happens. The fact that my friend was in uniform we could not make a big deal about it. But what really frustrated me was that fact that there was no apology, no discount, no offered coffee while we waited for an hour. I just think that the potential of of the restaurant is too great to be having poor service. It was very unfortunate, love the atmosphere and most of the staff but it seems like they are just not experience with handling issues and the owner is too cheap to make compensations.Great Service and Food
I attended Via Delizia last night for the first time...it was recommended by a friend of mine. I really enjoyed myself and so did my husband. The service was cheerful and gave great suggestions. The atmosphere was wonderful and the food was well proportioned and excellent quality. I'm looking forward to going back and bringing some girlfriends, maybe we'll try some of their wines next time.A Gem of the Pearl District
Every time I go to Via Delizia I love it a little more. Their coffee is wonderful, hot chocolate is even better. The gelato alone is worth the trip. The staff is very nice, professional but not in that snotty way a lot of Pearl District restaurant staff can be. The prices are great, staff is very sweet and the giant Olive Tree makes this place a standout!Delicious and attractive food, vegetarian options, fabulous desserts
This restaurant is a favorite of my wife and I when we get the chance to stop in. We live out of town so we don't often get into downtown. We are both vegetarian and find they offer some selections that accommodate us. The quality of their salads, panini and desserts are excellent and attractively presented. The panini is perfectly cooked and not too greasy. They make their own gelato from scratch and offer many flavors. The atmosphere is great with the olive tree inside, especially after dark.Great Food - Great Service
We absolutely loved this restaurant, we started with the Bruschetta with Mango & black bean and tomato & lemon on crustini - FABULOUS!oh so great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ive been going to Via Delizia for a couple years now and all I can say is that I LOVE IT! I feel that everytime I come in it gets better and better! The food is soooooo yummy and the service is wonderful! The desserts are out of this world glamorous! When my boyfriend and I asked if we could thank the chef, our server said no problem! It was such a treat being able to talk to the chef who was very polite and also a sharp cookie! She, along with our charming server, made our last trip a memorable one! I would highly recommend the roasted garlic fettuccine for dinner and the bloood orange crepes for dessert!Best Latte's in Town!
I ALWAYS get a latte here after I see my hairdresser next door at iolite. Not only are they too perfectly convenient to stop in and see, but they always deliver the most perfect latte with a perfect compliment! The staff here are so friendly, the atmosphere is great for any time of day, with friends or just reading a magazine. Thank you for the awesome pick-me-ups and for all your smiles!Best Dessert
An amazing place to go for dessert and it looked as though they had a variety of delicious looking sandwiches although I was there for dessert only. Great gelatto and they are not stingy about letting you try everything and anything you want, outstandingly thick and rich coffee. Super nice and knowledgable staff, gotta give this place a try and I think you will be hooked like me.Unexcelled service! Delicious lattes and gelatos. Good breakfast foods. Pleasant atmosphere.
Living nearby, I had often walked past Via Delizia and in my mind dismissed the idea of patronizing it because it looked like it would be an expensive, trendy rip off suitable for the pretentiously inclined Pearl District. One day recently with a friend we went there for coffee. I had recently heard that the coffee was good.Great deserts!
I love this place, great deserts! it has a very casual atmosphere and is open late so you can stop by for a quick sugar fix :)Great Lattes and Goodies
Yummy latte, smelled and tasted amazing. Prepared with great care, they really take care of you here! Also delicious strawberry scone, mmmm.Get your latte constructed by a PRO!! GREAT COFFEE, GREAT SERVICE, LOCAL!!!
We go to Via almost daily! They have great coffee the best construction of a latte or mocha you will ever find! Much better than Starbucks, and you don't walk out smelling like coffee beans. Not as great as it use to be.
This WAS my favorite place. I remember eating here about six months ago the food was delicious light and appetizing. I've always ordered the Honey crepes and their other desserts are always fantastic. My usual honey crepes came in a large plate with three crepes and a light berry sauce but the filling was light and slightly sweetened.Im in support
I support all of the previously written POSITIVE reviews and then some. During, what seemed like, the worst of the recession I worried we would lose this privately owned local business. I had days when I stopped and made a purchase even though I didnt really want anything. I felt like the owner was so glad to see his people still coming through the door and it was one more dime to keep him afloat.New Menu Items - Unbelievable food
I am so impressed with their new menu items. I have tried several now, breakfast, lunch and dinner and I have not had one bad meal. This is my favorite restaurant in the Pearl. It's not just desserts anymore they are a full item menu restaurant with lot's to choose from.DON'T BUY GIFT CARDS HERE!
A friend of ours got us a gift card from this establishment, but when we tried to use it a few months later, they claimed that there was only a $1.35 balance on the card which we had never used and our friend had paid $30 for. The owner said, That's all that's on the card, I'm sorry, someone must have used the card, even though that's clearly not the case. What a scam. I guess the owner values $28.65 more than his reputation. We'll never go here again if that's the way they treat their customers.Great spot!!
My favorite restaurant for a nice, quiet, delicious meal. The chef even specially fixed a paninni for me that isn't on the dinner menu! Great, friendly service and super good food. Also, a nice setting on Tanner Springs Park with non-hassle parking nearby.Would not recommend
Rude owner...non-recyclable plastic gelato cups (it's 2010!!) that make the gelato taste like plastic. 4 bad experiences. Would not recommend unless you are a completely oblivious yuppie.Love It...
I have gotten to know the owner over the past 2 years that he has owned it and let me tell you.... Class Act. When reading some of the other reviews it just puzzles me to hear where someone felt that Alex wouldn't go out of his way to make them happy. I know him pretty well and he isn't the type to step over dollars to pick up a penny if you catch my drift. His customer service, well should I say he sets the bar pretty high. The food is amazing and having to drop off my girlfriend at her work, which is nearby isn't all that bad when I am able to shoot over to Via Delizia for tasty latte'.Worldwide > United States > Portland, OR > Italian Restaurants
