Dishonest owner
Owners have put up a false website stating they were forced to leave their six forks location. This is a lie- people who truly know Tookie, know that he wasn't willing to pay his bills. Service in his restaurant is poor as well.

We buy the chicken salad for all our work parties, they also have really great hotdogs and onion rings!!

Pretty good food, Clean, Mean Cook
Gas-station setting, but clean, and good quick food. Some of the men who work there are real friendly, but I went there this morning and the woman/cook was cold, apathetic, and seemed to hate her job. She got real irritated with me because I took a few moments to think what I wanted. Without "tapping her foot" to show impatience, her whole body showed impatience. Later, when I wanted coffee, she was rushing with something in the back room and let me know by body language, by finishing what she was doing and not letting me interrupt her, that I was a pain in the but to her by wanting coffee. Smoke filled the room, so we couldn't eat and had to leave. They don't allow smokers in their little deli (so I gotta' hand that to them), but smokers smoke in the store that's joined, and when we suggested a ventilation system, she showed apathy. Ventilation systems are expensive for a small business, I realize, but she could have shown just a tiny amount of compassion. My breakfast this morning was rushed, I felt like a burden to her, and a da%n smoker ruined it for us. (but my BLT was good!)

BEST Chicken Salad!
If you like chicken salad, do not let the fact that this is located in a gas station keep you from trying this place! The chicken salad is the best I've EVER tried!!

Tookie's versus Barbeque Lodge's Chicken Salad
The Barbeque Lodge at "Mini-City" on Capital Blvd. makes a chicken salad sandwich for $3.50 that will clean Tookie's clock. Thick sandwich, more and better ingredients, and very tasty.

Tookies - Is Over Rated
If I could rate it lower than a 1 start I would ... Chicken salad is good, if you like TURKEY ... That is right! It is Turkey in that "chicken salad" and it is expensive. Also, they buy a lot of their stuff from Sam's Club ... If I wanted to go out and eat Sams or Costco, I would ... sams club type foods are lesser quality grade compared to that of wholesale ... I may be able to get past all that of the false advertising of "chicken salad", sub par quality, and watching them tote product in the back of their cars instead of refrigerated trucks, if it wasn't for the rude and spoiled owners and workers there who act like they are entitled and are doing us a favor for eating there. One woman there, I overheard her yelling on the phone to someone (sounded like it was a creditor calling) comes off very rude while with customers; another woman, heavy set with a short butch like hair cut acted like we were bothering her to be ordering there ... there were also a couple of younger boys there, it appeared as if they were the first woman's son's ... who spent more time acting like they knew what they were doing, and worrying more about getting their own food fixed there vs. trying to help. Reminds me of a situation where "Daddy" set up the boys because they were too lazy to do anything and a place for his wife to stay out of his hair, if he even has any left after dealing with these folks. I would not suggest going in there again, too many other spots in the same 18 Seaboard area that are considerably better and NICER!!!

I cannot believe the false information that "Food Diner" has posted slandering this business. Having worked there a couple of years ago, I watched them bring in the CHICKENS from a REFRIGERATED truck and spend hours preparing the chicken salad all by hand for the loyal customers that Tookie has had for over 20 years in Raleigh. Other businesses besides Tookies purchase some of their products for resale from places like Costco because it is cheaper and faster taking the extra effort to go and purchase and deliver it yourself than paying extra money in expensive delivery costs which is very understandable in the tough economic situation that we are all in, and small businesses have to adjust to the times just like everyone else. Please don't post any false information regarding the ingredients of their chicken salad... I've seen the chickens delivered, chopped, and cooked myself, so your "guess what!" information that you have presented is false. Posting about how you were treated in the business and food quality is one thing and what you should write about, but not the ingredients of the food when you have no idea what you are talking about. Unbelievable.

TOO Overpriced and quality is NOT worth it
Very disappointed with our lunch. Paid almost $20 for a chicken salad plate, a burger plate and one glass of tea, including tip. The prices were way too high for the food that was served. The burger was smaller than a McD's quarter pounder but cost over twice as much, and tasted worse than McD's. We will NOT be returning to this restaurant.

Good Chk Salad, bad everything else(esp. service)
I live near the Falls of Neuse store so thats where i go and everytime i've been in there the young blonde girl that works there has been awwwwwwwwwwwffffffuuuuuuulllllllll. She's a complete B***H and obviously hates her job and/or the customers. She doesn't acknowledge you when you're standing in line, she stares at you like you're a tele-prompter when you order and if her hairline goes back any farther she'll look like a female Samurai!!! After looking at her face i usually can't eat my chicken salad for at least 6 hours anyways. The chicken salad is the only reason i go to Tookie's. Let me say again, the only reason. If they're busy, they have to ask you about 5 times what you ordered because they have no ordering system in place which leads to them mixing up orders. Tookie, i know you're cheap but its going to cost you business if you don't tighten up.

Overpriced mediocre food surly service
The blonde wait person this morning was most unpleasant- they were out of 1/2 lb. take out containers so she called someone on her cell phone and argued with them about what was the best container to put the chicken salad in. Eventually she scooped some in a drink cup and put a lid on it. She was too busy arguing to even check to see if it was a half pound. She told me that a co-worker had purposefully allowed her to run out of the containers to make her look like an idiot in front of the customers. I have rarely seen such unprofessional service. I left with a not quite full drink cup of chicken salad for my lunch- $6.30.

NC HEALTH DEPARMENT CALLED! THIS PALCE SHOULD BE CLOSED!!
I purchased 8 oz or 1/2 lb of TOOKIES famous Chicken salad today. TO GO. The 310-lb dripping/sweating wet disgusting counter server slapped about 5 oz of warm chicken salad in a plastic container (she turned around and blocked by her enormous body so I could not see when she weighed it). The chicken salad was warm to the touch... Human body temperature is 98 degrees! When I got home I weighed it in my food scale and it was 6 oz with the plastic cup it was in!! DID I MENTION IT WAS WARM!!!! I heard this stuff was good,,, but I would not give this to my dog.... I called NC Health Department to re-inspect this dive... Listen, RUN!! DO NOT WALK, save yourself and your children from food poisoning and stomach pump... (it was also $6.80 for 5 oz of this garbage).Worldwide > United States > Raleigh, NC > Restaurants
