everyone who works in the hospitality business knows that if one has a fetish for sport stars this is the place to go. But if all the hockey ho's/groupies are bothersome and ruin the atmoshpere you shouldn't bother. Service is good. Good place to people watch but not to meet people.User review by thumper9092
As a new resident to St Paul, I found Tom Reids on a Tues night with 2 for 1 specials. I and my friends have gone to Reids every Tues for nearly a year now- I love this place. On event nights it does get crowded- but what place doesn't. With the addition of 2 for 1 on Friday nights too now (unless its an event night) I have no reason to go too far for fun and great value. Thanks Tom Reid and the entire staff - you're great!Cheers of St. Paul
I have been going to Reid's now for about 2 years, and wether or not it is hockey season does not matter. This establishment is a great place year round. Not only do they have wonderful specials on drinks and food, but the atmosphere and staff are great and friendly. It is a place "Where everybody knows your name". The ghosts of Hockey past seem to come out of every nook and cranny, and there is an electric energy that envelops the restaurant every fall and winter on game nights. The food is not to bad, I would suggest the Buffalo chicken sandwich, or the buffalo wings! as far as parking it is tough, but well worth it once inside the doors, Welcome to the State of Hockey!Trip down memory lane of Minnesota Hockey Heritage
My son attended a baseball clinic in the area of the restaurant and we stopped by on a Saturday afternoon.Really kind of a dive
Tried it for the very first/only time for a recent Wild game... I'm struggling to come up with any positives. The old North Star memorabilia on the walls is cool--but if you're interested in eating/drinking--save yourself the disappointment of being served what is really surprisingly bad food only to take a gut shot when you get the check from the surly bartender and see what you've been paying for the drinks $$$$ to wash down your crappy $10 hamburger. They obviously only stay in business because of their location close to the X and inhale every dollar out of your wallet they can because of it--since they know if you care AT ALL about things like quality/service/value...you'll never be back. Do yourself a favor... PASS on this place.Wouldn't do it if I were you
Tom Reid's hockey memorbillia is the only reason anyone should even step foot in this place. We were less than satisified with our service by an unhappy bartender, who's name i believe was Sam. Some of the other male workers there were rude with scowls on their face and looked like they wished they were some where else. The food was below average at best. My buffalo chicken sandwhich tasted like it was not thoroughly thawed out. The over priced beer and drink selection before a hockey game is not that great. If anyone is looking for a good spot to go to before any event at the XCel, I would recommend Eagle Street or Alary's. The bartender mentioned earlier, really runined our night with his attitude and service. If this is how a buisness is operated, there is something truly wrong with the service industry.Avoid Every Night
Overprice, bad service and bad food. Don't waste your time going when there is a bar/restaurant on every corner by the Excel. Bartenders are crabby and the servers are ditsy and slow. There is nothing special about the food there, most of the time it's been sitting there - precooked for hours so they can get it out fast. For the price go somewhere respectable... I suggest McGovern's or the Liffy.BEST LUNCH IN SAINT PAUL
I was not a fan of this place years ago. Food was crappy and everything seemed overpriced. A friend dragged me in for lunch two weeks ago and dang!... this place has gotten soo much better. You can tell that something has changed because when I went in, about 1:00 in the afternoon, it was busy. The service was good, and so was the soup and salad bar. the soups were actually awsome. I haven't been in at night, but I hear that they are open until 2:00am every day and have really good specials.good place to have some drinks
i love one of their cooks..i been there once and you could hang in there and have some drinks and be relaxing and social with anybody around.HOCKEY HEAVEN
This place is awsome. I brought my kids in durring the afternoon after an open skate at the X. Who do we see? Jacques Lamaire, Mario Tremblay, and Mike Ramsey all sitting at a table with Tom Reid himself. They were really nice and my kids got autographs from all of them. Tom really knows how to make people feel welcome. They have the coolest hockey stuff on the walls. The server was great and so was the food. I will be going there whenever I am in Saint Paul.Desperation City
The food here is NOT GOOD AT ALL. I go here every now and then for their deals on drinks (2-4-1's) is always a bargin but jeeze could they get any worse food. I swear every time I have ordered food here it comes closer and closer to pig slop. For the prices they charge you would think the food could be better quality. The food is only good IF you have to sober up--because it makes you baarf! As far as the staff goes there a only a few guys (who arn't that bad looking) but some of the servers and females could use a upgrade in attitude (and looks!) Only come here if you want to watch desperate ladies hunt for men, laugh, and get really drunk doing it!Fun on a WIld game night!
This is an OK bar the servers are all very slow ugly and ditzy. Most the guys aren't very friendly either. Only two people I would let serve me Josh and Blu Dawhg make great drinks and are friendly otherwise hire some new hot guys and chicks it is really bad here def. not a place to meet people. the food is pretty nasty they should invest in some quality food products and new TV's. I am trying to remember the servers that are really bad shannon? maybe and Tiffany and the fat a$$ bartender so beware of these people there plus the bathrooms are small and croweded and parking is awful.NONE
Just thought I would toss this out there. Tom Reid's has a new menu. Yes, I work there. Take it or leave it, the new menu is a lot better. Burger baskets start at 5.95. All the prices have been cut. Give it a shot. By the way, New TV'S.Best Chili EVER
I volunteered for the EXTREME HOME MAKEOVER project in West St. Paul a couple weeks ago... Tom Rei'ds donated a TON of chili for all the hard workers and it was by far the best chili i have ever had! I have since been in to Reid's twice this week just for the chili!! If you are a chili lover... you have to try it out. Plus, the service was great!AWESOME place!!!!
We stayed at the holiday inn for 5 nighs during the wild and penguins game. We spent 3 nights at this pub. It was GREAT!! We skipped going to any downtown clubs because we enjoyed this place so much!! This is the place to be if you have a love for hockey, great food, wonderful crowd, awesome staff. I cannot say anything bad about this place. It was within walking distance from our hotel/excel energy center. Hey its pretty cool when Tom Reid himself makes his rounds! 5 star and we will be back :)Rude immature staff
Hi!Clean, good specials, people
This sports bar is extremely clean at all times, this is special.Great times and value
There are a lot of sports bars, but none offer the value Tom Reid's does. The food is decent enough but a really good deal for the money. I like to watch games there because there are a lot of fun people, hardly any trouble, and I can grab a bite quickly without spending a fortune.Just a relaxing bar
Guess if you're into hockey this is a big deal with all the photos and jerseys up on the wall. I like how relaxed it is and you can always watch whatever game is on though.Good all around
The food is standard bar fare, not great but good and a decent value.Worldwide > United States > Saint Paul, MN > Bars
