My Gown was Beautiful!

I purchased my bridal gown at Bridal Beginning and was treated very well from my 1st visit all the way to my last fitting.
Eddie helped me find the perfect gown and was very patient.
I knew that alterations , if done well, are expensive...

Bridal Beginning needs a crash course in customer service

I went there to look for bridesmaid dresses, and when I walked in, no one asked if I needed help, even though I had an appointment. They ignored both me and my bridesmaid. When I approached the counter and said I have an appointment, the woman was very rude. I told her I already had my dress and she was even more rude about that!! She tried to hurry us out of there as fast as she could. I was asking about a dress my bridesmaid tried on, and the woman, who actually pulled the dress for us, claimed the store didn't carry it so she didn't have to find out information for me. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. There are other boutiques in the area with the same merchandise and way better service.

Bridal Beginning has a good selection, but a high price

I'm not exactly sure how to write this review...I had excellent customer service and really liked my salesperson. Not knowing what I wanted in a wedding dress, I was open to trying on many different gowns. My salesperson was very patient with me and helped me find the dress that I ultimately bought.

However, I did not buy from Bridal Beginning. Being a price conscious bride, I called other local bridal shops to price the exact same dress I saw at Bridal Beginning. I learned that Bridal Beginning was charging nearly $200 more for the dress than another local shop. Bridal Beginning told me that they couldn't believe that I found the dress for that much cheaper and that the dress sent to their store must have been mislabeled by the designer. They told me they would match the price of the other local bridal shop, and would not charge me for getting the gown pre-lengthed, normally $125. I kept my appointment for the other bridal shop and learned that the designer only charges $50

Bridal Beginning is AMAZING! Best Bridal Store in PITTSBURGH!

Perfect from start to finish! I loved every second of my wedding gown purchase at Bridal Beginning, my bridesmaids, and my mom's dress! We got everything from here! They have so many dresses its unbelievable. They were so knowledgable about everything. I was looking for the dress of my dreams and they made it possible. I found my perfect dress, and they suggested that I do a one shoulder tulle strap off to the side. IT WAS BEYOND PERFECT! My perfect dress was even more spectacular than I ever imagined. I wouldn't trust anyone else. I have always looked at bridal gowns and loved them in magazines but I never knew what I wanted. They had me try on so different styles, things I never thought to see myself in and I felt beautiful. They went above and beyond. Thank you thank you Bridal Beginning! Everyone should GO TO BRIDAL BEGINNING don't waste your time any where else!

You will never meet a more anxious excited bride in your life than myself. So when it came time to pick my dress I had so many thoughts and my style choices were all over the place. I decided to go to Bridal Beginning because I have several friends that had great experiences there. I was also a bridesmaid in my friendÃ¢Â€Â™s wedding and we got our dresses there. I went in on a Saturday and although the store was quite busy, I felt that this was my day and that the consultantÃ¢Â€Â™s attention was focused on me. I brought in some pictures but truthfully was torn in what style would be right for me. The consultant sat me down and we talked for a few minutes about what type of wedding I was looking to have and what I pictured myself looking like on my wedding day. From what I told her, she was able to pull dresses that she thought were right for me. Before I went to Bridal Beginnings with my daughter last year, I read the comments regarding this store. I am a very secure strong and quite intelligent African American woman, so when we decided to go to Bridal Beginnings, my thoughts were, if some of the negative things I've read are true, then I am going to have one heck of a time with these people. Much to my surprise, my experience was satisfactory with most people. Although it was evident they are more comfortable with Caucasian people. Non-the less, my daughter picked out a beautiful dress along with Dorothy , the consultants help ( who by the way is just wonderful) and we had no problems. The seamstress was just wonderful and very nice to all of us. I was quite satisfied with the price and the quality , but the most important thing is my daughter was just BEAUTIFUL and was happy. It is quite dishearting when you look around the store and there are no pictures or employees of color in the store. African American girls love to l

Misleading Business Practices

I was very disappointed with my experience at Bridal Beginning. I ordered my dress in January 2010 and they were very friendly and helpful at first. They let me make design changes to my dress (of course for a fee) and then ordered the dress. As soon as I signed the contract, they were immediately short and unfriendly. I kind of brushed it off and sat around waiting for 5 months.

Finally my dress came in a week ago! They were rude to me on the phone but I made an appointment for my first fitting, went in, they pinned the few places that needed to be altered and then brought me another bill for $285! (In addtion to the $500 for design changes). I was shocked that they hadn't told me that alterations would be an additional charge on top of the design change charge!!! I asked to speak with a manager (Dorothy) and told her that they were very misleading and never mentioned that I should expect additional costs. She pretty much told me she was sorry but I should have known that they w

My Perfect Dress!

I went into the bridal beginning on what seemed like a very busy saturday without an appointment. The woman at the front desk was very friendly and had me register and said she would do whatever she could to try and fit me in. I asked if i could browse around and she said yes. I had little faith that i would get a consultant because of the amount of other customers around the store. I was asked to wait twenty minutes so someone could help me. I am so happy i decided to wait because my consultant Cheryl (who was SO MUCH FUN) helped me find the PERFECT dress. They never made me feel bad because i didnt have an appointment and they valued my business. Although i would recommend an appointment i had no trouble in finding my dream dress.

Horrible

Horrible experience. Not only do the up charge the dresses, which I found out by over 350% of their costs, but they charged me $30.00 to ship a package that I went to FedEx.com and would cost $6.49 to my house. Save yourself the time and money by going somewhere else. Another reason not to go here is the snooty snob-lebaon attitutude they have. Hello you are not a shop in NYC or LA....

Mother of the Bride

I have been in many weddings in my time and to many bridal shops. But I must say the service I have received each and every time at the Bridal Beginning has been outstanding. Over the years I have had many opportunities to purchase from this store and it only gets better. When I leave the Bridal Beginning, I know that my dress will fit like a glove. Recently my daughter had the opportunity to purchase her wedding gown here. What a pleasure! Thanks for making her day special! Your attention to detail is impeccable. I knew that if any problem would arise, it would be taken care of with utmost care. Fortunately, all went well. I highly recommend the Bridal Beginning to any bride, mother, prom or After 5 customer.

Ask for Leslie or Eddy!

Bridal Beginning provided the best bridal store experience. I should know, I went to every shop in Allegheny and Westmoreland counties!
I went here in hopes of getting a dress made by Lazaro. It was way out of my budget. Eddy spent three hours with me, trying to find something comparable and within my budget. I left that day with a dress picked out, but by a week later I just wasn't feeling it. I thought I would never find a dress that I would feel was made for me. They had called me a few weeks later and asked if I wanted to bring in anyone to show the dress to. I told them I wasn't 100% sure on the dress. They told me there was a trunk show that week, so I actually went in that same day. Eddy wasn't there that day so Leslie helped me out! I went in by myself and once again spent over three hours there. Leslie just kept bringing more dresses for me to try. It was awesome. She was so sweet, fun, professional, and extremely helpful! Loved Bridal Begining

I recieved incredible service from Bridal Beginings. I registered at the front desk and was promptly escorted back to a fitting room by my consultant, Lisa. She was amazing. She showed me Many beautiful dresses. I found a few I loved and scheduled a follow up appointment to attend with my mother. When I came in , I was shown directly back to the fitting room where we reviewed the dress I looked and previously as well as a few new ones. Do not go!

I went to Bridal Beginnings on the recommendation of a friend. Her sister bought her dress at the store and I wanted a store with a large selection of dresses.

When I arrived at the store with my mom and M.O.H. our sales lady was late. That was alright because it gave us a chance to look at bridesmaids dresses. When I asked about color sample, the receptionist never looked up to answer my question, even after asking twice.

Then when it time to try on dresses, the sales woman told my mom that she would have to sit in a designate area and not help with the selection and fitting. The sales lady asked to see my pictures, and then ignored them.

When I told her I didn't like any of the dresses she pulled for me, because I just didn't like them. She assumed it was the fit, and pulled plus size dresses from the back and said to try them even if they weren't what I wanted.

Note: I am tall, short waisted, and athletic. I'm a size 12, not a 20W!!

It was embarrassing to be in that situation in front of my mom and best friend.

Don't buy until you find a good seamstress!

The sales clerks are great and they will help you find the perfect bridal gown, but don't use their seamstress. She is rude, slow, and she will cut corners to get your dress out the door. I loved my dress, until she got her hands on it. A store of this caliber should select their seamstresses much more carefully.

Best Bridal Salon in PGH

I went to the Bridal Beginning after going to every other bridal shop in Pittsburgh and I wish I would have went there first. The staff was so helpful and their selection is unbelievable! When I walked in I couldn't believe how many dresses there were to pick from. I felt like a princess the whole time I was there. They listened to what I wanted and they brought me in dresses that I never thought I would like but fell in love with. They really know what they are doing. I bought my dress, my headpiece, my veil, and my bridesmaids dresses there. I have never felt so beautiful and my girls all loved their gowns. They all got a different style and looked fabulous. Every detail was perfect! Save yourself the agony of crumby service and poor taste and go straight to Bridal Beginning.

Don't get your dress here!!!!

To make a long story short...

They ordered my dress a size too small.
Had to go back SEVEN times for alterations because they were NEVER right.
Last week, the head seamstress (laurel) apologized; saying she thought there was enough room to let the dress out. They had to overnight fabric, which brings me to today...
My wedding is in three days, and I was at the dress shop for 3 1/2 hours. STILL, it puckers in places in the back; has random little strings sticking out, and is lumpy in the breast area. That's just a couple of things. Since it has been altered and re-altered and altered (literally) more than 20 times; the dress looks used.
They never had a manager come to speak to me, never offered my money back.
And so you know, it wasn't a complicated dress to do- my wedding is an intimate affair, so in fact the dress is a bridesmaids dress.
I hate the dress I am supposed to remember for the rest of my life.

They are *the best*!

I went to Bridal Beginning to shop for my wedding dress. I went in thinking i knew what i wanted. My consultant patiently pulled tons of dresses, and let me take my time. Then she said she wanted me to try one on that was not like the others... she said she wanted to see it on me. And guess what?? She was a dress psychic!! my sister and I burst into tears. It was perfect. Through the entire process, when the dress arrived, the alterations, everything was unimaginably wonderful.
This store is the best bridal store there is... I highly suggest shopping here - they made my wedding!!

Rude employees/ Inaccurate measurements

Beware! Do not listen to their seamstresses about your size. I was told that I needed a size that I thought was pretty large, but trusted the seamstress that she measured correctly and knew the designer. I called a few days later, after trying on dresses by many other designers for another wedding. Dresses 3 - 4 sizes smaller fit me everywhere else. I was told there was nothing I could do, to wait until it came in and then see.

Well, I went to try it on, and it literally fell off of me. The manager kept pulling it back saying that it fit. Obviously, it fits when you are pulling it. There was no arguing with them. Save your money and go elsewhere for alterations. There is no way they will every get another dime out of me.

Also, the manager came in and called me by a shortened form of my first name, I guess as a way to make it seem like we were old friends. I found this particularly irritating because they were not taking me seriously at all. When I informed them that I would write a bad review, she told me how insulted she was that I would do that to a family business.

Depends on who helps you

My sister purchased her wedding dress here and the consultant we had was wonderful- not pushy, not judgmental, and pulled beautiful dresses.

We also purchased our bridesmaid dresses here. However, once the purchases were actually made, the service completely changed. None of us live in Pittsburgh and they were unaccomodating with our out of town schedules. We were in a bind since the dresses took so long to come in in the first place although we were guaranteed they would be there a month prior.

My sister's fitting was bizarre. The seamstress dismissed all of our concerns (including obvious pilling in the fabric) and instead focused on selling a sparkly headband to my sister (who is 34). We also faced the very mean and unaccomodating women who work at the front desk and answer phones.

It's a shame because they have beautiful dresses and a great selection but they need to ensure great customer service across the board and a space that displays their merchandise in a more logical organizational pattern.
