fun things to try
Grape leaves were flavorful, and larger than normal. maybe a little oily. the rice was the most flavorful rice i have ever eaten, and the baba ganoush and hummus were also very creamy and tasty without being too heavy and oily. there is so much on the menu it's hard to make a decision! great location in the belmont area as well.Horrible Food. What a waste of a great location!
I have worked in restaurants for years and always do my best to be patient and kind to servers. I have NEVER walked out of a restaurant before. The food at taboulis was so horrible (how do you mess up hummus?), that after i received my salad (bitter yellow iceberg, one piece of beefsteak tomato), I handed it back to the server, along with fifteen dollars, asked him to cancel the rest of my order, and left. They also have no greek/medeterranian food on the menu. It's not Tabouli's anymore!
Our family has enjoyed Tabouli's since the 80s. It has always been the best Mediterranean cuisine I have eaten and was always consistent. Recently, the restaurant has new owners and a new chef. I wish they would change the name, because it is not Tabouli's anymore. The seasonings are different; the meat is different (mine was very tough). They have a limited menu now because of construction, so maybe when everything is finished, it will be better. I'm afraid Nashville has lost a jewel in the dining category. I would love to know if the previous owners/chefs are going to open another restaurant, because they really know how to prepare Mediterranean dishes.Changing for the worst
My husband and I went to Tabouli's this past weekend. It used to be our favorite special place to go to celebrate birthday's, anniversaries, or celebrate nothing at all. We especially love the Shawarma, with his perfectly seasoned meat and onions. Delicious. And their falafel appetizer was perfection. However, this past weekend, things had changed, and not in a good way. First, the menu was limited due to remodeling. We still saw Shawarma on the menu, so we thought we were still alright. We ordered the usual, chicken for me, beef for my husband and waited. An unusually long amount of time later, our food arrived, and looked nothing like it had before. My chicken looked like it was cooked on a foreman, so detection of any spices, not even salt and pepper. Quite bland, and quite dry. Instead of beef, my husband had gyro meat (lamb spam), and chicken. Oddly, his chicken was quite different than mine, but still horrible nonetheless. We never received the humus and salad promised with the meal, and after spending a considerable amount of time waiting for the food to begin with, decided not to protest.Great neighborhood restaurant, and great late night with hookah and full bar.
On a recent visit to the newly remolded Tabouli's on Belmont Blvd, I was pleased with what I saw. Not only had they added on a beautiful new patio with open garage doors, they had renovated the entire inside of the restaurant and they did a very good job. After being greeted by the friendly host, we were seated at a table on the patio. We started off with the hummus with pita and grape leaves, both were delicious. I had the lasagna, it was cooked perfect, not too hot to eat but cooked all the way through, and tasted great. The service was very friendly, and the place looks great. I would recommend this place as a must try.A Real Disapointment
Tabouli's used to be among my favorite spots and I ate there regularly. But it has really taken a dive and the quality of the food has gone from great to poor. Their remodeling and attempts to make it a nicer restaurant are noticeable improvements, but serving food on new fancier plates doesn't change the fact that it isn't any good. Last night my girlfriend and I decided to give it a third and final chance to see if they had gotten better since our last two experiences (both of which were before the remodeling)....and it was a real disapointment and waste of our money. Both the hummus and water had a dishwater aftertaste the chicken was overly salted and the grilled vegetables that the menu indicated that the kebob would include did not come with the meal. It's sad to see what used to be such a great restaurant serve such poor quality food. Don't waste your time or money with this place--it isn't what it used to be.I really like this place
I have never been to the old version of the restaurant. Just drove right by it all the time. But I finally had dinner here a few weeks ago, and the food was fantastic. Ate on their front deck and there was live music. It was a great experience for me and my friends. Highly recommended!Oh, Tabouli, what happened to you???
Everyone who knew and loved the old Tabouli that served damn good, super fresh food at really good prices surely misses those days. The new Tabouli, sadly, just isn't the same and isn't worth going to. I had high hopes that the makeover would just be cosmetic, but it's not.Gyro Fail
i have been to this resturant on three Occasions this month. i am done trying to get any type of good food or service from this Establishment. On two occasions i been when they were not busy, i frequent many of Nashvilles Meditereanean/Middle eastern resturants. tabouli's does not even compare for how well others make theyre gyro and kaffa. anywhere else in nashville will give you more value for your dollar aswell.Worldwide > United States > Nashville, TN > Greek and Mediterranean Restaurants
