Very dissapointed in this property. While the interior spaces are lovely, rooms facing front are bombarded with street noise all day and night. The piano player, evenings around 7:00, is loud enough to wake you-inyour own room. The level of service, except in the bar, left much to be desired. I don't need to spend $275 per night to be told ther is no local info available, or "I've only been in town for a month and don't know my way around." Getting attention at the check-in desk required a lot of patience (we watched as others had the same experience as us). And $12.00 nightly for parking is ludicrous-on top of the room rate. I, for one will not return to the Sunnyledge.SUNNYLEDGE SHINES
Sunnyledge is a very luxurious venue for a get away weekend or even a weekday business trip. The staff was absolutely lovely and the restaurant which was just recently reviewed in the local paper was terrificNot Worth the Money
We were disappointed with Sunnyledge. The restaurant and bar were very nice, but the room quality was shabby, and certainly not what you'd expect for $200 plus. The service by the hotel staff was perfunctory at best.Don't Go Here on a Holiday
My Mother's Day was very dissappointing. We waited in the driveway until 4 pm with the entire 3 pm seating. When we headed to the buffet it way empty. They brought out one dish every 10 minutes or so and we had to wait and keep checking back. We were told that the beef and the quiche - in my mind the 2 main entrees of the buffet- were simply gone. The seating was so over crowded that the waitresses could barely fit by. I am so embarrased that I chose this as the place to take my mother for a special treat.Sunnyledge was a great experience
Title: Sunnyledege won our heartsSunnyledge still a great experience
Its been a while since our last visit to Sunnyledge but I can see why they were chosen best luxury and boutique hotel in Pittsburgh by City Search. The hotel is a European style gem with custome fabrics and original woodwork throughout. The beds are draped in egyptian linen with mattresses from the same manufacturer as the Four Season's hotel chain. Service is very friendly though predominated by young people from the area universities. Personally we found them to be very delightful if not the most sophisticated(who needs a stuffy concierge anyway?) The restaurant was introducing its new Executive Chef and menu while we stayed. They have a real winner! I would highly recommend Sunnyledge for a romantic getaway or wedding not to mention weekday business trips as the $139 corporate rate they provided us was a real bargain(Sunday through Thursday , We had to pay full rate on the weekend but still worth it)Poor service and techno music made us leave
Day before Valentine's Day, my wife and I went to Sunnyledge, where I had reserved a table. Pulled up to valet park, no one showed up, so we parked nearby on the street. Though the visual aspect of the dining room was elegant, we noticed only two tables occupied on a Fri. night. The place looked nice; it's a Victorian building and a historical landmark to boot. The lighting was perfect and soft. Guess what though, in the foyer where the hostess eventually arrived, out of a shelf-top system they were playing techno music (yep, thump-thump-thump). Techno music is fine if you want a workout or you're at a nightclub, but at a fine dining establishment with Victorian flourishes? That's a thematic no-no. It's like putting cheese whiz on caviar. We were eventually seated and were told that a waiter would be with us shortly. 5 minutes went by, no server. Hostess brought waters, repeating that a waiter would be right with us. Ten minutes went by and there were only 2 other tables of people, so it's not like they were overwhelmed with the crowd size. After a few minutes more, we decided against giving the establishment our business and walked out. I have no idea what the food is like, but the service was poor enough to make us want to leave. You have to understand, too, that this was Valentine's weekend, so you'd expect to get an even higher level of service. Try at your own risk. Can't Wait to Stay Again
My husband and I stayed at Sunnyledge while picking up our daughter from CMU. We absolutely loved it. Not only is it only about four blocks from the University, but the Hotel itself is gorgeous. Our room was beautiful, spacious and very clean. The staff was friendly and eager to please. We had dinner Saturday night on the outside terrace and it was delightful. The food was amazing! Our daughter and her boyfriend met us for drinks after dinner and we ended up staying a half hour after closing time. The bartender was very kind, we didn't feel rushed at all. Overall one of the best experiences at a hotel. Thank goodness our daughter is only a sophomore at least 2 more years of wonderful stays!Great Hotel BUT...
