Very Cliquish

Be careful if you join this church. I personally have been a member for over 20 years, and I still feel like an outsider. The pastoral staff is aloof and sometimes unfeeling, and if you are divorced, you might as well pack up your bags and find another Church.
The school isn't much better. It used to be a wonderful school that provided a superior education. But when the nuns stopped administrating in the school, and the lay persons took over, it went downhill. Teachers turnover very quickly, students bully and tease each other to the point of physical contact, and if you're not one of THE families, you might as well flush your tuition money down the toilet.
There are much better Catholic Churches & Schools in the area, so steer clear of this one.

PROS: Nothing that I can think of
CONS: High Teacher Turnover, bullies, cliquey

Warm, friendly, faithful

I loved this parish. I was visiting from Minnesota. I arrived a half hour early because I had the wrong time. There were already people arriving at Mass. Unsure of the correct Mass time, I approached a woman who was already in church praying. She was very nice to me and not bothered that I interrupted her prayer time. I was also pleased to see that the sacrament of reconcilliation was available. How nice to go to church on Sunday and be able to go to confession. The Priest, during his homily, was very down to earth, had a good sense of humor, but was also clearly devoted to the Catholic faith. Thanks St. Ameliea's for welcoming an out of town visitor. I would recommend this church to anyone.

2) to the person of 20 years who is not happy. I extend my hand to you to be a friend. I have been a memeber since July 10 1960. True, not everyone everywhere may do or be what we all expect. However, there are people in the parrish / church that I do not even know their names but have been talking with them for years and years. It does not matter their name but the smile we bring to each other's face when we see each other. Please bring to your experience a one person at a time / one day at a time perspective. I can guarantee you that if we met in church or on the street I would extend a hand to you. So there, you have one person from the parrish, now pass it forward and find one more. Soon, you will have met the people you want to meet and feel the warmth you desire. However, it is God's house, so you are already among the lords family to share your joys and pain.
