left feeling bad!!!! then was even treated worst later
me and my partner would eat there 4 to 5 times a month until a few weeks back when we were sitting at our table eating, the the waiter along with the table of people started talking about gay's and the waiter said I know we have one that...Terrible policies, dishonest wait staff, so-so cuisine
I've been to this place a couple of times because a friend wanted to go. The food from their hibachi menu is ok, but not great; last time my steak was WAY overcooked. But what really makes me give them a terrible review is their horrible policies. Supposedly, they'll split checks up to 4 or 5 ways, but not on weekends (?!). So I went in on a Sunday at LUNCHtime and ordered from the LUNCH menu for my LUNCH. When the bill came, I was charged the dinner price because...they don't serve lunches on weekends. Since my meal cost my 30% more than I had intended to pay, I chose not to leave a tip; the service was ok, but nothing special enough to make me overlook my anger at the price gouging. When the charge cleared from my debit card, the waiter had helped himself to a 20% tip! I looked all over, hoping that I still had my copy of the receipt but I couldn't find it. I might not be able to do anything about this experience, but you can bet I will never step foot through the door of Shiki Sushi again.Great sushi, fun bar
Great sushi--buy one get one free every day! But they don't split checks at dinner, so bring cash. They recently built a great bar area that is tres chic and a great place to hang out, especially during a Friday night wait. Friday nights are CRAZY BUSY, so go before 6 or try Saturday night instead. Curry was ok. I usually only go for the sushi. Wasabi roll is my favorite! (not too hot either)Horrible Service....even worse food
My boyfriend and I were craving some Japanese food, so we decided to try Shiki's. WOW! That's probably the worst idea I've ever had. The service was absolutely terrible and the food was the worst food I've EVER eaten, and undoubtedly the worst Japanese food ever. I ordered the terryaki chicken. On my salad, I asked for shrimp sause, but the waitress said it would be on the side. Well, they brought us these huge dishes with a teeny weeny little bit of shrimp sauce in it, and the salad was swimming in this disgusting dressing (I think it was supposed to be ginger sauce). Needless to say, neither of us took a second bite of our salds. Anyway, when our food came, I was even more disappointed. There was no soy sauce in the rice, the egg noodles were repulsive, the chicken had no terryaki sauce on it, and the vegetables were horrible. I don't understand why they consider their food "Japanese" seeing as how it was just cooked rice and chicken. It was way too expensive considering how awful it was, but we did save money by stiffing our waitress who ignored us the entire time. My boyfriend and I were still hungry when we left because we could hardly stomach any of the food, so we stopped at Wendy's on our way home. I would definitely not recommend going here if you are looking for a nice Japanese meal.great price, good food selection, try the sparkling SAKI
Wow i just went to shiki last night i thought it was a great eating experience( great price and Food). I want everyone to know that they have Japanese food (hibachi), Chinese food like(orange chicken), and Thai food (panang curry, Thai spicy basil). Nice decor inside, great for date night or bring in the family. With new management in place this restaurant is a great addition within 1 mile of south point mall.Eat here if you're not an idiot
I see a lot of people give this place pretty bad reviews based on their reactions to receiving their checks. OF COURSE YOU'LL BE CHARGED FOR THE MOST EXPENSIVE SUSHI YOU ORDER. All buy 1 get 1 free deals in history charge you for equal or less value. Do you really think they'll ring up your $3.95 nigiri and not your $13 roll? Don't be dumb.not a date option
While the food and value is good, I would not recommend this as a date option. I just called and was told they do not take reservations unless you have a larger party. I asked what size is that... they only take reservations for parties of 7 or more! That's just crazy. Having to wait in line for a 'first come, first served basis' makes this restaurant a non-option for those that want dinner before another event.Great Sushi
I love this place, it has been recently rennovated and expaneded. The sushi is always fresh & tastey!Come eat here if you know how to order japanese food
If you're looking for some "teriyaki chicken" go somewhere else, there's a Japan Express right down the street. Stiffing your server just makes you look ignorant.V-Day experience at Shiki
First of all the hostess that was there was unprofessional and rude. I don't know what his name was but he was extremely rude and didn't know what he was doing. He was snapping at the other people at the front desk and very frazzled. We were originally told the wait was a certain time and then it was changed over and over again. Once we were sat at our table the service we received by the wait staff was great but the initial experience walking through the door was something to be desired.pretty good!
my husband and i enjoy having our sushi dinners every once in a while and we usually come here. their sushi is quite good. their buy one get one free deal is enticing and helps, but we still end up spending too much $ b/c we want a taste of everything! other dishes are asian fusion style, not really authentic...very tasty, but portions are on smaller side and they fill up dishes with lot more veggies so you don't end up getting much of the meat or food. service has been fine. they get pretty busy, esp since expanding their restaurant, so expect to wait a bit.OVERRATED
This was my 3rd visit to this place. We were told it would be 30min for a table so we waited patiently. After seeing others arriving after us at 35min we questioned if our buzzer was working and was assured our table would be seated soon. Checked again at 50 min; same story. At 55min they realized they accidently scratched our number off and while they apologized we were not seated for another 5minutes. When we ordered, our waitress forgot to put in our appetizer order so we ended up cancelling that when our dinner arrived first. The ice tea I ordered was really warm as if they just added ice seconds before serving it and was way too sweet! The food is no better than your average Asian bistro, but more expensive. The atmoshpere is very noisy such that it is very hard to have a conversation and you leave with a headache. When trying to get our bill, it took an excessive amount of time. I am not sure what the attraction is to this place. The service is going downhill fast and I think there are better options.LOVE the Buy 1 Get 1 Free Sushi!!
I absolutely LOVE the Buy 1 Get 1 Free Sushi deal. Before finding Shiki 2 years ago, I had never really tried sushi because it was too expensive and I was afraid I wouldn't like it. But you can't go wrong at Shiki, everything I've tried has been delicious.Good Sushi
The sushi is always good, but there is always a wait and it is always really loud. Overall, it's still one the the best sushi deals in the triangle!Mediocre food, Bad Management
I've been to shiki sushi a few times for dinner in the two years. They do have a large variety of Asian dishes, as well as a sushi menu. The sushi isn't as good as the competition, especially considering the price.Shiki Sushi Is Marginal at Best
If you have had good sushi with the best selection of fresh fish, rolled tight and to perfection, you will laugh and the 4-start rating and "best sushi" comments. Several people from Mexico, who really are that good at rolling sushi = faux sushi chef's. I have honestly had better rolled sushi from Harris Teeter.not worth it
I dont think i would recommend this place since it just is way too expensive for the sloppy sushi rolls that they serve. That's why I started going to another place every time i wanted sushi. If you want quality rolls for a reasonable price, you wont find it here.frozen raw fish
I just went there last night with my friends. I was disappointed by the chirashi sushi don that the salmon is still frozen inside! It's like eating some frozen food that still have ice chunk in there, but in a bad way. I've never had any raw fish with ice in there and it's very sad that I had that at Shiki. Not a good deal.
I went on a Friday night for the buy 1 get 1 free deal. It was about a 45min wait. It seems like a good deal, but it's not after all the waiting and for sushi that is thoughtlessly created.Good location, but mediocre sushi
Firstly I only went to the restaurant once and it is quite possible that day was an off day, but the sushi was very sloppy and I can't believe they even served it like that to customers.Nice atmosphere, good prices, good sushi
I really enjoy this place. I go there often and I really like the atmosphere. I have had several of their dishes and have never been disappointed. They have two for one sushi (which makes sense if you but two rolls of roughly the same value and nothing cheaper). You should also try their duck dishes.Worldwide > United States > Durham, NC > Sushi and Japanese Restaurants
