I've been reading a lot of these restaurant reviews and I am a first timer writing this one. I decided to pick Sagra because I think these reviews aren't on target, if you will. I journey into Sagra from time to time and I'm always pleased. I enjoy the hostess greeting me with a big smile. The bartenders grab me a drink pretty quickly, usually a beer but heck it's quick and in a nice chilled glass. If I do decide to sit at a table if I bring a lady friend along, I always get bread within a couple minutes and a glass of water. Specials are always told to me which is nice because it's something I usually haven't tried yet. I've never had anyone over charge me and it's never taken 35 minutes for a salad? I would recommend Sagra to anyone and everyone. I wish it would have the pizzas back though, that's one thing I do miss.much better experience!
Went into Sagra on Monday night. Pretty busy. Absolutely loved everything. Had been there previously and hadn't been this good. Will definitely return...soon.Great food and atmosphere!!!
I went there with my girlfriend for the second time and the food was better than the last time which was great then!!! She had a chicken florentine dish that was amazing and I had a stuffed cod with a great gnochhi, YUM!! Finished up with a chocolate lava cake to die for and the service was spot on!!! A must go!!!An Italian eatery with no Italian flair
Sagra stands behind the Davis Square staple of Mike's... in every way. Although the atmosphere here is rife with tones of higher class and swank than most Davis Square eateries put off, it blends in well somehow. It makes a good first impression, sort of like a large modern pitcher plant. The hostess though was rude the night we visited and the wait staff seemed... quasi professional - straight off. It took about fifteen minutes for our drinks to arrive, literally - no joke. The bread was good, but drenched in oil before you even dipped it in the amazing EVOO provided. The food was simply terrible overall, I just cannot possibly describe the amateur level of cooking here, but I will try. I had ordered the chicken parmesan, the chicken itself was just acceptable, good but too thin and way overcooked. The cheese was nothing worth mentioning, just OK. The pasta was poor, not cooked enough and watery - the kind of food I would expect to be given by a roommate in college who specializes in Ramen. Now the bad part, the marinara sauce - it was the worst I have ever had in my life. It was more like a reddish water than sauce, but it didn't taste as good as red water, no no. It was more like tangy dish water in which something had died, and something did - my expectations of good Italian food from Sagra. Just simply unbelievable. My fellow victim had tried the chic peas, broccoli rabe and eggplant. Although the eggplant was acceptable, the two sides were atrocious and completely inedible. The chick peas were mixed in with shrimp and it tasted like a seaweed soup some four year old would make as a joke, except the joke was on us. The broccoli resembled (and interestingly enough tasted like) the end product of weeding your garden. I wish we had simply gone to Mike's right around the corner and gotten real Italian food and not this catastrophe of a meal. Do not be tempted inside by the fancy Peroni umbrellas or swanky air for you will drown in a watery marinara-ish oblivion...Good service and tasty dessert all in one place
First time there loved the experience great service offered by the hostess, server, waitress bartender and all. The food was amazing since I love sweets my favorite was the nutella bread pudding. After all the tasty food and drinks we didn't have to go far for entertainment since they have a Live entertainment . It was a great experience and I will recommend this restaurant to any one.loved it for restuarant week
One nite my girlfriend and i ventured out into Davis square for a bite.. We found ourselves at sagra during rest. week.. was amazing!! Service was attentive and friendly but the food... Was even better.. They were offering both there regular menu and there 3 course menu.. So alot of options. The flavor was right on, along with the wine the server recommended.. Was a little sad that i thought the dishes on the three course menu i would never see again, but the server asured me they always have additions to the regular menu... That the option i loved is a frequint addition. Try the mushroom risotto if it there that night!!Rude Service, or lack there of!
This review is for the night scene, not for the food. Every time I've stepped into Sagra the atmosphere is different. I live close by so I've gone on several Friday nights and it varies every time from blasting techno club music to being a sports bar; to being completely empty or being completely packed. Basically, I never know what I'm getting into when I go there for a drink. On a recent visit, I was appalled at how poorly we were treated. It was almost 10pm and people were still eating in the dining area, so we went to the bar area and sat at an empty table that I've sat at times before and always had good service. Upon sitting, we were approached by not just one, but 4 different hostesses/waiters telling us they didn't know if we could sit there since someone might need it for dinner so we'd have to move if that was the case. I don't mind being told once, but when 4 different people come up to you every 3 minutes and don't even offer to give you a drink menu or ask if you need anything, that's pushing it. Feeling completely unwelcome, my friend and I left. That's the last time I set foot in there for a casual drink.Worldwide > United States > Somerville, MA > Restaurants
