I moved back to Augusta after living in New York for 20 years and I rediscovered Ruben's Department store where my parents bought all our clothing back in the 1950's. What a great store...I couldn't believe they were still on Broad Street and still had the best looking suits and shoes. My job has sent me all over the country but I have seen few national chains that could rival the selection, quality, good prices and good service of this store. The sales folks mays be older than most places but they sure are the nicest....you just don't find such friendly and helpful sales people anywhere these days. I highly recommend this Augusta tradition. And it's also nice to see a hometown store with such a commitment to Augusta's lovely downtown.

I don't have much to say about this store in Augusta, except I'll never go back. The store is awful in almost every aspect. The person who was helping me seemed decent enough, but their boss (some lady, don't know her name) was extremely prudish and quite rude.

I always find the folks at Ruben's to be pleasant and helpful. Unlike other stores in the malls they really try to help you find what you are looking for and have an endless amount of patience which is refreshing in this day and time. I wear a hard to find shoe size and have bad feet from working all day but I can always find a really good fit in a stylish shoe at a fair price. I love that store especially Mrs Joan Short who is the best saleslady I have ever met. The whole store is really quite unique with a flavor of the past when service really meant something and quality made shoes and clothing meant something.

I agree that Ruben's is a very nice store with old fashioned good service and values. My wife and I really enjoy shopping there and we always find good quality stylish clothes at a fair price. We always get lots of compliments at church when we wear our outfits from Ruben's and the sales folks are always so helpful in making good selections. We like the personal service and true efforts to make sure we are happy with our purchases.
