Delicious Thai food

During our visit to Baton Rouge, my friends and I are lucky to have visited Rama Restaurant. I'm Thai so I can say that I've found a true Thai cuisine. Waitresses are friendly and informative. Foods are reasonably prices when compared to big portion that you've got in front of you a college budget price range I must say! We ordered quite a few recommended dishes: Pla Chien (deep-fried fish fillet grace with home-made sauce), Cashew Chicken/Shrimp (you can see plenty of cashew nuts in there!), Indian Chicken Curry, Mee Krob (traditional Thai dish made with crispy noodles mixed with a special sauce and stir-fried to perfection). For noodle lovers like myself, I love Rama's Pad Khee Maow and Pad See-iew. After that, we finished our meal with Rama's fried bananas served with your choice of home-made coconut or durian ice-cream a heavenly sweet treat!

Great Thai food, friendly waitresses

My kind of restaurant

When I was in town, a friend of mine recommended Rama Restaurant to me. So I went with a bunch of friends. We were glad we had chosen the right place. Dont let its humble appearance from the outside discourage you. We were impressed with the touch of Thai from the moment we stepped inside the restaurant, from pictures on the walls to table clothes with Thai design. They have a wide range of food on the menu (large portions and inexpensive too). As Thai people do, we ordered several dishes so that we could share family style. My most favorite appetizer is Rama Spicy. It is Ramas own recipe and you cannot find it in any Thai restaurant in the US! We ordered Beef Sate (grilled slices of beef skewered with wooden sticks and served with good peanut sauce, toasted bread rolls and cucumber salad. They have Pork Sate too.), plus several of their new additions, such as Pad Kee Maow (spicy noodles), Lard Nah Pla (Pla means fish. Flat noodles topped with deep-fried marine fish, served with rich dark gravy and stir-fried broccoli on top). I also like their Thai tea (cold drink with milk). A friend of mine ordered Thai coffee and she liked it too. The service is attentive. They dont do lunch buffet and close on Sundays.

Great new experience

This little hideaway is great if you are feeling adventurous for lunch or dinner. This little dive goes unnoticed by locals who aren't in the know, but for those who catch the rumor, Rama is a spicy treat. I suggest the mee-krob (a traditional Thai dish) and the lemmon grass soup. If you don't think spice is nice then just tell your server and they won't add the pepper. When you find yourself craving mee-krob like me- shhhh! - Rama is packed as it is.
