Excellent buffet
I've gone a couple of times with people from work in the past few weeks and Patu is an excellent restaurant. The restaurant itself is small and cozy and has a quaint feel. The buffet is fairly cheap (~$10, I think) and has a decent selection. In fact, I've never ordered from the menu, always choosing the buffet instead. I visited Patu about 4 years ago, and though I didn't have a chance to go back until this summer, the one thing I remembered were their Chicken Satay sticks with Peanut Sauce (on the buffet, of course)Great Thai
I fell in love with Patu's the first time I went. The portions are huge, which is great since you can get both food for the night and the next day. It's great for spice lovers and people with more modest palates.Great Variety/Lunch Buffet
Lunch at Patu consists of a respectable buffet with tremendous variety. Typically there is no waiting to get a table, service is adequate, and atmosphere is cozy. Items on the menu ranged from relatively bland to very spicy, with a large selection of deep-fried vegetables. Bathroom was clean, but no pizazz.Food
You will enjoy a lot of tipical Thai foods in a great atmosphere. It is a suitable place for families, lovers, and friends. You can be certain that you will get the warm full service by friendly waiters and waitresses. For those who've never had a Thai cousin, I ensure you that it's worth to try.Best Thai in Town!
Awesome lunch buffet with tons of options. I love the variety of vegetarian options! Great dinner too, but it can get crowded. Despite it's low profile Patu's is possibly the best Thai in town.Great
The food had great flavor and was authentic. The service was excellent.Great place to try!
Patu is a very great place even it's such a small whole in a wall on Rice Blvd. Everybody in my family loves this cozy place. Foods and services are always excellent specially dinner time. On Friday night and the weekend can get very busy but the service still perfect. The lunch buffet is great also. There are variety of foods which chefs offer different menu everyday. My children favorites are Cheese Rolls and Satay Chicken. My favorite dishes are Basil Seafood and Chu Chee Eggplant. Both dishes are awesome. The atmostphere is so nice and the very nice and friendly waiter and waitresses. They always recommended me good dishes all the time. This is the place that you can find THE FINE THAI FOOD ....THE BEST RESTAURANT IN TOWN!Consistently Fantastic Thai!
I have been going to Patu for years and it's ALWAYS fantastic! The lunch buffet is a great deal and the variety of dishes is great - you could go every weekend and they wouldn't have the same dishes everytime. Anything with tofu here is amazing.Left disappointed
The place had a decent atmosphere for a Saturday lunch, but we got the buffet and didnt find much that was very good on it. The food did not taste very fresh and the seasoning was very off from authentic Thai cuisine. Ive eaten at many of the best Thai restaurants across the US, and this place was a disappointment.Pad Thai is soooo gooood.
My wife and I dined in the evening (lunch is buffet) it was so romantic. Pad Thai, Seafood with basil, and cheese roll were really good... Try it for yourself.User review by sweetpapaki
I love Patu, the food is great and so is the environment. The prices are low and the portions are large enough to share, I highly recommend Patu if you're looking for amazing thai food on a budget.Thai on a budget
Food is amazing. You have an option of mild to Thai hot spicy on almost all menu options. Personally I recommended over all other Thai restaurant in the area. Good service, low prices, big portions, good food. What else is there?Best Thai around!
I recently moved from Houston and miss this place terribly. Whether it's their incredible lunch buffett or a plate of the chicken pad thai or panang curry, you can never really go wrong. Their Thai hot is wonderfully hot, and the atmosphere is cozy and warm.Great food
We love patu thai...great food, cute and cosy ambience, this is my favorite thai restaurant, next is veing thaiGrease Meets Thai. Thy better straighten up!!!
Bad food all together greasy rice, old chicken, bland and the veggies are right out of a freezer bag.Worst Service
My wife and I went there two weeks back and ordered Some Vegetarian Curry and Veg Pad Thai with out egg and some appetizers. After the appetizers they brought the Pad Thai and Rice for the curry, but the curry is no where to be found. After reminding them twice they bring the curry and being vegetarians to our shock we find beef in it. We inform one of the waiters who said he will replace it. Already grossed out we decided to replace it with another Veg Pad Thai. After some time they bring the Veg Pad Thai and this time it has egg in it. Not surprisingly by this time our appetite was dying and we are frustrated with the service. Eventually they bring another Veg Pad Thai with out eggs. Now here comes the kicker, for all this mess they did not even have the courtesy to put any portion of our bill on the house. I did not even bother asking them about it and simply paid the bill and walked out. Since that day my wife doesn't even want to eat at any restaurants.Once a favourite, seems to have gone downhill, probably won't go back
Ok. I loved Patu. I've been eating their food since the summer of 2006, when I worked in the Village (a co-worker and I used to order the vegetarian massaman curry for lunch a few times a month, one of us would pick it up to go). I moved away from Houston, but every time I am back in town I make sure to get an order of the massaman curry. I take my family there and have recommended the place to friends.Small place, sub-par food
I went here with a group of girlfriends to celebrate a birthday. First of all, it is tiny and hard to find because it used to be just an alley. (It is next to Texadelphia) At 7pm we were the only patrons in this little restaurant. The service was attentive (obviously). We tried the Tiger Cry Salad, Pad Thai, Ke Mao, and a red curry dish with chicken. The salad was just awful. The beef was tough and dry and was on a meager bed of iceburg lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers. The dressing was overly spicy, without any taste...just a jalapeno puree really. The pad thai and ke mao were just okay. We have had better. The curry dish was simple and tasty served with white rice. Overall, the food was just okay, but for that price, we won't be coming back. The place lacked ambiance. Fake windows and harsh overhead lighting attempt to make up for the lack of real windows in this restaurant flanked by brick walls."Ok" authentic Thai
Decent food in an unremarkable atmosphere. Better suited as a lunch joint to get a quick Thai meal & not for dinner. Service was slow and bad.Typical Food, Bad Service, and a bit over priced.
I'm not trying to bash this place but it's a bit hard not to. My three friends and I had a pretty terrible experience here. We were never offered drinks, my buddy who ordered an imported beer (TsingTao) had to send it back because 1. it was flat and 2. it was way over the shelf life date. We ordered some spring rolls and they were actually pretty good. When our food arrived she put down the 'family style' plates and walked away. We had to walk up to the waitress to get her to bring us actual dining plates to eat off of and the rice we ordered. While eating we noticed the song on the speakers was skipping repeating the phrase "like a flower" over and over and over again. We actually told the waitress that it was skipping and it was really getting to us and she said "o.k." and walked away. We were pissed. It was miserable. The last thing she did was refill two of the four empty glasses of water....all were empty...so we didnt have drinks for the last part of our meal...awful. I don't know how anyone could enjy eating here. I've had the same quality of food for 1/3 the price. Crap. Really.Worldwide > United States > Houston, TX > Restaurants
