unpredictable place
Small, intimate and lots of chalk dust. I've been impressed with how friendly and helpful the climbers at the gym are. Sure everyone seems to be in there own world but a quick HELP and you'll have 3 people showing you 5 ways of doing a route. The parking might be difficult to find. But once you find it you will love this place.great gym!
I LOVED this gym. If not for moving I would still be going to this gym. The staff is great and very approachable. I never had to wait long for a machine and they have a huge variety of weight machines too.My ONLY complaint is they need to check their machines because a few of the treadmills need to be replaced.unpredictable place

Old City Ironworks is a great gym centrally located in the city. The building itself is very unique. There is plenty of room, nice dcor, and lots of great machines. I think this gym is for people who are serious about bodybuilding, as most of their machines cater to that type of thing. They dont have a lot of cardio equipment, but do offer classes. The staff really puts you at ease and is dedicated to making your fitness goals a reality.Stay far far away
Tom, the owner of this gym, is incompetant and unhelpful at best, and criminally negligent at worst. He will charge your credit card for extraneous reasons, refuse you a refund, telling you to go back to the 6 page contract full of fine print. Classes are commonly canceled or taught by under-qualified staff. Bathrooms are frequently messy, and equipment is never clean (and is sometimes broken). In sum, management is incompetent, staff is indifferent, and it shows. For a better alternative, try 'SWEAT GYM', right down the block.Great gym w/ the personal touch
I love working out here! All the staff are super friendly and always available to answer questions. It makes coming to the gym almost an enjoyable task!Fee not bad, but be prepared to Sweat!
Trainers/staff are excellent. I just wish they would stop being so cheap and turn on the A/C in the summer! It gets hot upstairs where all the cardio machines are. Sometimes you come out of there and it's actually a relief to get outside in the 90 degree heat! Now this is a REAL gym!
What is great about Old City Ironworks is everyone in there from the staff to members are working out really hard. The trainers are phenomenal! I could never imagine getting the results from a gym without them. The bottom line is you go to the gym to get a great workout in and that is exactly what you get out of this facility.Ok Gym
The Gym equipment is ok and the localtion is great for me since it is walking distance for my work so I can go at lunch or after work. I wish that the place was larger and had more equipment. If you live or work close by its ok but don't go out of your way.Best Gyms in Philadelphia
I recently visited Old City Ironworks as my friends guest about two months ago, and I became a member soon after. I was very impressed with the gym for several reasons, all of which make if unlike any other gym in Philadelphia. First, the open air gym setting had plenty of windows letting in natural light and creating a feeling that you just can't get anywhere else. They also had large a garage door that they had open letting in fresh air. Second, the atmosphere was unique and comfortable. It is a family gym, and after spending some time there, you too are part of that family. Third, the various classes that are offered convenient and fun, and the instructors/trainers are motivating and educated. I highly recommend you come by and take a look at OCI- I know that you will enjoy and appreciate it as much as I do.Old City Ironworks review
Joined this gym in May. It is very close to our house. I initially didn't join because through the window it looked like there were a bunch of gunthers in there, so I joined another gym, farther away, that ultimately was unsatisfactory because there was too much Spandex. When I walked into OCI it definitely felt like a family gym, and quite a bit more serious than my previous Spandex gym. The trainers are great. There is not a huge amount of cardio gear, but you never have to wait. Staff and other members are very neighborly. It's no frills and the cost is very reasonable. There is another gym in the next block that cost $20 more/month.Stay far far away

I use to go to the one in Northern Liberties. This gym was at one time awesome (when it was owned by the Aaron Family) but as soon as the Greer Brothers took over it went down hill quickly. They are unknowledgeable, ignorant and do not like having heavy people working out in their gym. The equipment is not well maintained and they like to charge your credit card even if you cancel your membership, then they act like they never received your request. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to this gym....Worldwide > United States > Philadelphia, PA > Active Life
