Not a good experience
Tried them this past month for alterations on a couple on sportcoats that i purchased. I was recommended to themby the salesperson at the store where i bought the jackets. I wasgreat tailoring of designer jeans
I recently brought a pair of designer jeans and wool work pants in to Newbury Tailoring. The jeans were hemmed with the original hem. The work pants were taken in at the waist. I was impressed by the job they did. Both pairs of pants turned out perfect and fit me to a tee! The staff was very friendly, and the prices were within the normal range. It took a week for them to complete both pairs of pants. I was completely satisfied, and have already brought 2 more pairs of pants for them to tailor for me!Do NOT recommend
Good for hemming jeans. But otherwise, carelessly done alterations and expensive. They irreparably ruined a beautiful blouse with new seams that left holes(!) and a section on the front that appears to have been accidentally snipped with scissors.trust them with your best, your favorites, your irreplacable garments
After many bad tailoring experiences elsewhere (including a ruined Vera Wang bridesmaid dress), I avoid the risks and I have ALL my tailoring done at Newbury Tailoring. Antonio is always there to do fittings himself, and he and his staff are extremely courteous and attentive, and the tailors that work there do a great job. It is nice to know that whether I bring in a pair of expensive designer jeans or an H&M skirt, they always do a good job. They are EXPERTS at hemming jeans, retaining the original hem and you cannot tell the jeans have been altered! It is like magic. I have taken dresses, skirts, pants, and shirts there over the past five years and have not yet had to take anything back for a redo. Not a good experience
Went in this fall for alterations on a couple of my old suits. I lost about 20 lbs, and figured it would be no problem taking them in a bit. I was wrong. One suit was butchered, and the other was not well fitting after the adjustments were made. When I asked if they could be remodified to fit better, I was told they couldn't do a better job and that I would need new suits. I took them to another tailor near park st station on advise from a colleague, and he re adjusted them and they fit a lot better, and he even was less expensive.Eh, nothing special
I had a neck tie taken in on the sides and I went by 2 days early to pick it up. It was finished, except that it was completely off centered. They went back and fixed it, but I definitely think that's pretty shoddy work for the price you pay and all the hype you hear. From a place listed in Best of Boston, you at least expect obvious problems fixed before they consider it finished. Not worth it
This is a fairly expensive place. I knew that going it, and went anyway because I am willing to pay a little more for a very good job. It wasn't. I brought in a very simple job--a new suit that fit me almost perfectly, and that just needed a little taking in. They did so, but when I tried it on it was pulling in all the wrong spots. Then he told me it just needed to be pressed, and it would all be fine. I knew pressing would not solve it. He pressed it then and there, and, low and behold, it did not fix it. So they took it back to fix.highly recommended
I've recently lost a lot of weight. My suits are very large on me i say about 2 sizes too big. I didn't think it was possible to make them fit well again but these 2 guys did an incredible job. They actually fit perfect! I was definitely impressed. It was expensive but you get what you pay for. I would recommend them any day!!!Rude, overpriced, incompetent, disorganized
They lost a jacket. they were really rude about it. They were surprised i cared becuase it wasnt expensive. Then they radically overcharged for me poor quality work. Then they were rude some more. Stunning.Good but Overpriced
I have been to Newbury Tailoring several times now. I have always thought that the work was good (not spectacular), and I'm certainly willing to pay for quality. For simple alterations they are great, especially designer jeans. For sports jackets, I've had minor issues. If, however, you want a suit altered, I would go elsewhere. I just paid $155 to have 1 suit (jacket and pants) tailored - again, good work, but certainly overpriced.Worldwide > United States > Boston, MA > Sewing & Alterations
