Very good but not great
This is a middle-rank deli. At the bottom (judging only food) are Canter's, Jerry's (though the bakery at Canter's is quite good).

Iconic neighborhood, iconic eatery, big disappointment
My friend and I were in pursuit of New York deli style food. We were told that Nate 'N' Al was the place to go in LA. We checked into our hotel and headed to Beverly Hills. There was a half hour wait. That gave me time to peruse the menu....Worldwide > United States > Beverly Hills, CA > Caterers
