Merlin Does Magic
Good place to go for brakes and mufflers. The service is friendly and before they do anything to your car they will call to get aproval. They see your car in reasonable amount of time and when I have called around in this area for quotes they have always been able to beat the lowest quote that I have gotten. And I have never had the something else mysteriously break down after getting service there.

The price is great, but the facilities are pretty dirty
This is the type of place I think of when I think of DIY mechanics that seemed very popular in the 70s. The facilities are older, and not very well kept. The employees had what I would imagine are the equivalent of battle scars for the auto repair industry; they were covered with grease and such to say the least. Besides all of this (I suppose it's not THAT important for car repair, its not like they're operating on the driver), the server seemed fine. I got my oil changed there, and it went pretty smooth compared to a few adventures I had in changing oil. The only reason I went out to the faciliity was becuase they had a $15 special. Considering the drive for me, and the condition of the facility, I don't know if I would recommend it to anybody else.

I have been taking my vehicles to Merlin's in Midlothian for many years. George, the owner, is honest and reliable. It's the kind of place where you can take your vehicle for work (within the scope of their advertised abilities) and not worry about having to verify the quote by calling 2 or 3 other places.
