Take Out Disaster - Stay Away
It's possible that Mehfil has good food at the restaurant - we never got a chance to find out. We ordered take out at 5:30 on a Sunday night. At 7PM, they still hadn't shown up, which is staggering since Indian food is typically ready quite quickly and we're 6 blocks from the restaurant. When we called repeatedly to ask about the status, there was no apology or even politeness about it - just that there was a lot of traffic, which is hard to believe when you're six blocks away. By the time the food arrived, it was cold, inedible and we threw it away. Terrible service - don't order from there.love this place
a must try...the CTM and saag paneer are the best.Delicious and fast delivery
Mehfil is delicious and consistantly timely. I often order on-line which is so easy. Even living across bay bridge traffic on first street they still deliver our food fast and hot. Try their Mushroom Matter. Yummy!!!What's up with the bad delivery?
I live only 5 blocks away and chose to order delivery from them because they were highly recommended for fast delivery. Well, it's been an hour and a half and I'm starving.... still waiting for the food. I called and got an abrubt response that it would be there in another 15 minutes. Hmmmm.Very Average
Nothing special here. Pretty average run-of-the-mill buffet style Indian restaurant. I can't stand any kind of buffet so I will probably not return.Very Slow Delivery
I ordered their food online and it took over an hour to get to my house. I called twice and was told both times that the food was on the way.Not worth a second trip
Went for dinner and thought the sauces all pretty much tasted the same and the service was non-existent. I won't return.Best Indian Food
If you love rich Indian food , this is the place for you! Best food I have found so far. I have been a repeat customers since I have tasted there Chicken Tikka Masala, Saag Panner. Great service, good food!free delivery? ha!
When has anyone been able to get their order delivered? Hopefully, there will be more SOMA Indian restaurants that are able to really offer "delivery service."Not so great...
I really wanted Indian so I ordered from here as it's one of the few places that deliver. Fast and affordable, they didn't include any utensils or napkins, forget about plates! The naan is very large but has a bit of a sour or wine like taste to it; similar in a way to Ethiopian bread. The aloo muttar was rather bland and oily.Free Delivery
Good Indian delivery if you are craving for curry! Their tikka marsala was nice and creamy, but their aloo muttar was actually hard, from dehydrated peas?!? Overall this a good place for delivery, your food will come in sturdy containers, much better than India Garden (horrible containers with rude delivery guy!!!)Solid
I love eating here when I don't want to deal with the commute across the Bay Bridge. The atmosphere is very soothing although a touch smokey at times from the tandoor.Great food, decent service and inexpensive!
I thought this was one of the restaurants in SF that actually did justice to Indian food, and did justice good with the great tandoori kebabs, the dal makhani and the excellent lamb kababs that are to "die for"...The naans are great, soft and pillowy, and the paneer was excellent in the most delicious cream gravy. Overall, even though service can be a inconsistent, and the place smells of "curry" as soon as you are in 50 feet of the location, the food delivers to impress every patron, and consistently.Avoid delivery
I ordered my food over an hour ago and I am still currently waiting. The man who answered the phone told me the driver was already here and nobody answered. I have been here the whole time and nobody has called. Now I am starving and waiting for the driver to come back with probably cold food. I will never order from this place again!Don't Order For Pickup
I ordered for pickup via their online menu at 6:52pm last night from my work, and then called them to ask when I could pickup, and they said 45-50 mins -- so I stopped by on my way home at 7:50pm and they said somebody was out deliverying my food! (the form makes you put in an address, so I had put in my work address -- in hindsight I should have put in "WILL PICKUP" for the street address, if it would have let me). Anyway I had numerous messages at my work number from 8pm-8:50pm, but after stopping by the restaurant and them not having my food I just continued to drive home, I was not about to backtrack and wait. The staff there was less than helpful about everything. I will never go back.Just order on the phone
Good food! Flavorful, fresh and not too greasy. They even made kashmiri naan at my request, although it wasn?t on the menu. I did take a cue from the previous reviews and ordered on the phone, rather than online. That seemed to help because delivery was fine. My food arrived hot, in about 30-40 minutes. No complaints here.Terrible.
I gave this place 2 fair tries before making this review. I like Indian food and this place seemed great as it was right there next to my house. First time was Delivery. Too begin with they couldn't find my apartment, so i had to spend lots of time looking for the delivery guy while on the phone with the this place. When i finally obtained my food it was underwhelming. Recently I decided to give it another try late after work. I made sure it was open and went over there. I got there with about 30 min till closing. Upon coming in the door I was greeted with a nasty look and a "we are closed" from short, miserable man. I would understand if there was 5 minutes left or even 15, but THIRTY! That is just bad business. That was enough for me, I turned around and walked out. This is my honest experience, take it or leave it.Good food and super fast service....
My husband and I had dinner tonight at Mehfil for the first time. At first the waiter was a little mad that we asked for a four setting table for two. But the service was super fast. we got our food fast and it was good. Saag paneer was really good, with right spiciness, and Malai Kofta were tasty as well. Fluffy naan and aromatic rice. Will go there again for sure.Great location near Passport Agency
When I first walked by this restaurant, I immediately knew I wanted to eat here. The wonderful aroma and the atmosphere looked great and was clean. We arrived at around 1:30 p.m., the restaurant was about 75% full and we were seated promptly. The food was great. The samosas were typical with three different sauces for dipping. The mango lassi was refreshing. The butter naan was not your ordinary flat naan, this naan was fluffy and soft and my daughter loved it. The murag makhani (butter chicken) was delicious! I recently had the butter chicken at another restraunt in San Jose, however, this murag makhani from Mehfil tasted like the cook used quality ingredients that made it cut above the rest. The service was good. I asked the waiter if they had navaratan korma, he said its not on the menu, but he can have them prepare it for me. Well, I decided not to order it only because I knew my daughter and I could not finish it. The basmati rice was included in our order and it tasted and looked good. The food was delicious and affordable.I hated it!
What ever I ate there made me very sick. Besides the food coming back up, I also had to deal with it liquefying my intestinal contents. It was like a crime scene in my bathroom. The flatware had food on it, plates were not shiny and clean, the staff was just not attentive to getting me what I was asking for. Two hours later, I ejected the whole meal and never looked back. Don't want to try it again...no thanks.Worldwide > United States > San Francisco, CA > Indian, Tibetian, and Bangladeshi Restaurants
