Filthy, Dirty and Disgusting!!!
This place is touted as a reasonable salon with excellent work. Nonsense!! The place is absolutely a major health risk. The steam machine is molded, they do not change equiment (or bowls of water)between clients. the chairs are covered with paper that is reused - again and again. The masks are scummy with the same wooden stick used on multiple clients. My esthetican had BO (major) and a sour smell filled the place. How this place hasn't been closed down by the Board of Health, I don't know. After receiving a facial, I developed a cold, headache, nausea and abdominal pain. BTW prior to this had not had as much as a sniffle in almost three years. The facial was marginal at best with a crust of clay covering the lower half of my face and clogging my pores after the procedure was completed. Run, don't walk in the opposite direction of this petri dish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Filthy, disgusting, health risk!!!
Everything the last reviewer said was exactly what I encountered here! This was the most disgusting place I've EVER been. I can't believe I sat through the entire "facial". They put me in a chair and covered me with a dirty, stained cloth. The first half hour consisted of a dirty handed woman rubbing VASELINE onto my face, neck and shoulders that came from an open bowl on the counter that was dipped into with bare hands and never changed between customers. Then the masks that were applied came from a measuring cup that she dipped the same piece of cotton into multiple times to cover my face. The same cup was passed around the room and used on every person. To rinse the masks off, they dipped cotton into bowls of water that were used, again, on everyone. After wiping my face off, she RE-dipped the same piece of cotton into the bowl to rinse it and wiped my face again. The lady next to me got her eyebrows waxed and the wax came from a dirty dented tin pan that sat on THE FLOOR. All of the women wore white lab coats with no clothing underneath that were yellow and stained and you could see straight through them to their underwear. When my friend got out of her chair the sheet that her chair was covered in was soiled with grease from the vaseline rub down. The sheet wasn't removed. It was straightened and covered with paper and the next person was immediately sat in it. There wasn't a sink in the room and no one ever washed their hands between people. One woman walked into the room eating and immediately continued a facial. At one point it smelled like someone was smoking a cigarette in the lobby! I could go on and on about all the health code violations in this place. I wouldn't have even given it one star if I had the option. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE IF YOU VALUE YOUR HEALTH!!!

Great Salon with old school techniques
I have been going to this salon since my pimply faced teenage years and it is amazing. It is not glitzy and you will not be pampered like a doll like in other 5 stars spas, but you get quality. Run by a two sister's who came from the border of Hungary and Romania, they have been doing facials and making their own creams since their grandma showed taught how in the old country. Other reviews mention horrible conditions and bad service, but on the contrary, the salon is set up like a well oiled factory. Everyone has a job, all the masks are made in house that week and the two owners examine every last pore on your face. This is frequented but some rich and famous clientele and they keep coming back because they treat you like family and give you a hell of a facial for 40 bucks!

A great facial
I think this is the best facial around . You really get your pours cleaned , unlike the spas where they just put creams on and charge a fortune. This place is the real deal plus their products really work to help get rid of pimples, I even sent my teenagers here and what an improvement. Also the price is a bargain for what you get. I've been to many high end spas and this is better.

Fantastic
I had a great experience when I got a facial there. They did a great job for a very affordable price. The people who worked there were so friendly that it made me comfortable. I'm definitely going back and I highly recommend this place to you too.

I've been going to Madelaine's since I was in my teens (over 10 years ago.) It's so comfortable that it's like a second home. The prices haven't changed and the service is great. I totally recommend it.Worldwide > United States > New York, NY > Perfume Shops
