A Coleslaw Burger??
Stopped here before a show at Little Brother's. I got the Mac's Burger on the recommendation of a friend, even though the prospect of eating a hamburger with coleslaw was not too appealing. I must say I was pleasantly surprised as the burger was very good. The Cottage Pie!
My favorite meal in town. Great prices, great food, great service. Very casual. It's just ok.
The burgers may be great, but the scottish specialties weren't so good. I've had better at Easton.Don't miss tuseday wings
Great beer, great food, great price what more could you as for??? Nothing thats why you should go to Mac'sGreat place!
Mac's is GREAT! It has a nice, laid-back atmosphere, the servers are extremely friendly and efficient, and their burgers are awesome! Definitely try the Mac Burger - the coleslaw/bacon/burger combo is great, trust me! Great fries too. We were going to try the Scotch Egg, but at $4.25 for one, we gave it a miss (shame). Although parking isn't bad when we go for lunch, I imagine it can be a pain during the evening. Mac's is in a great location though - it's nice to walk off lunch browsing the shops nearby.Great
Only visited here once a little while back and was very happy that I did. The chicken salad was huge and very delicious. The few steak fries that I was able to snatch off my girlfriend's plate were awesome as well! It's not a huge place so I could see it being a little uncomfortably crowded on a friday or saturday night, but that shouldn't be reason enough to stop you from going!Good for Some Fun!!
I think that the limited menu for Mac's probably disappoints some people, but I like several things on the menu so it is not a drawback for me. It is clearly a "bar environment" and it is a great place for casual, loud dining. The burgers (especially the Mac Burger) are almost always wonderful, so I rarely stray and try new things. I fell in love with the Scottish Egg (despite the obvious health issues with wrapping a whole egg in sausage and dipping it in some cream sauce). It is my understanding that the owners also own Fabians next door. Fabians has discontinues specials, raised prices and stopped honoring advertised specials. I sincerely hope that Mac's doesn't follow suit. If you are looking for a burger and beer, or some Irish comfort food, I would recommend Mac's - other than that, I think you are taking a chance. It is also usually loud, so go with people that you can just nod and they will think you are paying attention to them.I found a fly in my burger!
Last time I dined at Mac's Cafe, I found a large fly nestled in my burger! Enough said. The food was mediocre at best to begin with. I only went in the first place because they keep late hours. They wouldn't even take the burger off my bill! All they offered was to make me a new one, which I certainly did not want after finding a fly in my last one! They were extremely rude about it as well. The whole experience literally left a bitter taste in my mouth. Their beer selection was OK, but I would not, under any circumstances, reccomend their food. Would definately avoid! Was Not Good At All
My boyfriend and I like to try out a lot of restaurants - we are willing to try something at least once. We had read good reviews for Macs Cafe so we gave it a shot. First, I must say, we were treated like cattle the second we got in. Finally, when the food arrived, which took forever, it was not impressive. My boyfriend is not a picky eater and he said that his burger was absolutely disgusting - he refused to finish it. My salmon was no better. I would not reccomend this place since the staff has very big attitudes for food that is definately not worth the time at all. I would not reccomend this restaurant to anyone - there are far better places to be found in the Short North.Could Do a Little Better
Its not that I thought Macs Cafe was horrible, but it just wasnt that good. I like to go to places that make several things really good - its what draws me back time and again. For Macs, everything is just about average. There is really nothing that they make so well. And since there are dozens of bars and restaurants nearby in Short North, Macs Cafe doesnt raelly make sense. Both foodwise as well as the places atmosphere, there is nothing Macs does that makes it attractive. Save your time by skipping it, because there are much better spots in the Short North!Don't start closing before your closing time.
Food is good, but service is salty. Don't start closing and putting chairs on tables while you are still serving!Scottish
OK. Everyone loves the Scotch Egg...and the place is Scottish. I say the Nachos (with Chicken) are the best--a challenger to Barley's (down the street).Worldwide > United States > Columbus, OH > American Restaurants
