The management at LA Fitness Downey should be fired. They are a disgrace to humanity. I say this because of the following events:over 2009 Thanksgiving weekend a man died at the club on the floor. No one working knew how to administer...Unethical Business Practices
When I signed up with LA Fitness I felt like I had to haggle throughout the entire process just to get a fair membership rate and not have to pay the ridiculous initiation fees. Then you get a complementary training session, and of course...Unhealthy Customer Service
The club itself needs to recruite new employees!!! If you want to join LA Fitness you have to be outta your mind!!! They offer poor customer service and no help at all from the staff. Maybe if they hire people that are not self centered...Death by LA Fitness Club
LA Fitness condemed a south gate man to his death by unleasing the downey police on him. God knows what the fitness club did to him to get him upset enough to have the cops called on him? Damn us all if we go against the machine, and...la fitness is shady
yes i agree with the above post, la fitness will debit your account too early. also i want to warn you about cancelling your membership. you have to send a form to the main office. you can't cancel at your gym, they may tell you that they cancelled your membership, but you will find that your account will continue to be debited for membership fees. so i recommend the following, send the letter and/or close your bank account and get a new one just in case.Truly Disappointing
LA Fitness in Downey is a big disappointment. The receptionists often are talking on their cell phones or to each other and have almost never greeted me when I hand them my pass. I also belong to 24 Hour Fitness, and was shocked how unfriendly the staff are at LA Fitness in comparison. I take classes at the gym and am disappointed in the low quality of instructors and their classes at LA. I have complained several times, but nobody seems to care, even Lance, the former manager, who signed me up. I wonder if the instructors have any certification or training at all, because they are so terrible. There is only a small handful of instructors who I feel I get a good workout with, because most instructors make it way too easy. Only a few instructors even move to the beat of the music, which is completely annoying, as well as causing them to do uneven repetitions on each side (if they were even counting at all). I only go there because I moved down the street and 24 Hour Fitness is too far.Zumbabebe

No one working knew how to administer CPR or even use the machine. They didn't turn off the music or shut the club down in order to identify the dead gentleman. His ID was in his locker and they were not able to notify his wife untill they closed the club after 11:00PM. This man did not need to die.Death by LA Fitness Club

I'm 17, I just joined with the intention of losing weight. I don't care about the staff, I could care less I'm doing this for ME. The gym is HUGE, it's nice, the staff are welcoming, I don't drive there so parking isn't an issue.Unhealthy Customer Service
The club itself needs to recruite new employees!!! If you want to join LA Fitness you have to be outta your mind!!! They offer poor customer service and no help at all from the staff. Maybe if they hire people that are not self centered and spend their work hours either talking to each other or to the members that come in perhaps this facility would have a better grade of service. The sales staff is not punctual and make you feel that you are wasting their time when speaking to them. the place needs to have their womens restroom cleaned daily, scrub their showers and vacuum the locker room. At least a fresh scent to the place. The broken machines remain broken for at least 1 month. I have been to other LA Fitness facilities and they may not have that bad service nor are they as dirty as the Downey location. In overall if you plan to come or join this gym please think twice and dont be fooled by their courteous attitude when you are first joining that will change once they have yTerribe service
LA Fitness in Downey is terrible but I have no other choice but to go there. The boxes where you suppost to leave your keys are out of order. Last year during the Thanksgiving holiday I was next to the man who passed away. It was sad. I dont know if the machine tossed the guy off or if he had a stroke while on the treadmill. It took about 15 minutes before the paramedics got there. A few people tried to administer cpr but the poor man did not respond. Finally a manager that cares
I've been a member at this LA Fitness since it opened and it's nice to see a manager that cares finally. More then once I see him out picking up trash and cleaning the place himself. If anybody gets a raise in the joint it should be him!Truly Disappointing

I'm considering driving back to my old gym, even though it'll take over 30 min each way, because LA Fitness classes leave me so out of shape.Truly disappointing.Dont do ot
This place doesn't care about its customers. All they care about is sales. Meaning this place gets more and more packed everyday. The parking sucks to the point were you're circling the parking lot for a half an hour looking for a stupid parking spot. When you finally get inside the place, either you have to scan your own access card to get in, or you have to wait for the receptionist to get off her (personal cell phone call) for at least 3 minutes. The wait for a cardio machine is about 20-30 minutes. The dry sauna is waay to packed for anyone to fit. Its almost impossible to get into the racketball courts or the basketball courts. The pool is filled with bleach too the point were you can hardly breath near the pool area. I've been a member of L.A fitness for over 10 years now, and I have to say that the Downey L.A fitness is truly disapointing. The management is also condescending and have a "There's nothing I can do for you' attitude.Worldwide > United States > Downey, CA > Gyms and Fitness
