Excellent atmosphere, BYOB, great food, hidden find

Definitely an amazing restaurant in east Wicker Park. My boyfriend and I went soon after it opened just to try it out because it's right in the neighborhood. The atmosphere was very relaxed and romantic. The restaurant is good for couples or small groups. Their menu was very small, but I assumed this was because they just opened. Right now they're offering a prix fixe menu for $13, which includes an appetizer, entree, and coffee or tea to finish. The two appetizers were an excellent homemade vegetable soup and a tomato and shrimp salad. The entrees ranged from chicken to fish to filet mignon. I ordered the filet mignon and it was excellent. Cooked medium rare, very tender and served with a red sauce. Rice and zucchini accompanied the dish. My boyfriend got the chicken chawarma, which was also excellent. Also served with the same rice and zucchini. The coffee and tea were the perfect end to the amazing meal. I highly recommend the restaurant. I assume they will create a fixed menu in the future, which will definitely satisfy anyone interested in French and Moroccan cuisine with an Italian flare. Also, the restaurant is BYOB, which is always perfect for anyone dining on a budget.

Great food, relaxing atmosphere!

I loved it! I had the lemon chicken, and my boyfriend had the filet mignon. Although we waited a bit for the food to come out, it was worth it. The chicken tasted like it had JUST been prepared, not like it was sitting around for a while, or pre-made. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly. The salad was delicious, with a very light yogurt sauce, we didn't have the soup, although it looked yummy. The staff was very nice and courteous. The ambience is very relaxing, no one is rushing you through your meal. BYOB is great! Although the menu is a little limited, but probably because they just opened and are trying new things out. The salmon/shrimp dishes also looked delectable. I definitely recommend this restaurant and will be returning soon.

Great Arabic food and a BYOB value

I lived in the Middle East and sorely miss the delicious food there. I've tried many of the other Arabic restaurants in Chicago and found them to be somewhat of a disappointment. I was hopeful that La Brochette was going to be as tasty as what I lover overseas and was not disappointed.

I have taken a number of friends there over that past couple of weeks and everyone was thrilled. As others has said they have a limited "grand opening" menu which I guess will change in the next few weeks. So far everyone totally loved their dinners and I can't wait until the full menu is available.

The current menu is $14 for entree and soup of salad with hummus and pita served before. The hummus was good, but not the best I have tasted. The entries are fresh, large and I would guess healthy by comparison to most restaurant fare.

BYOB is a great benefit and if winds up being an inexpensive night out with a great meal. I'd like to see them add Arabic cocktails, Turkish and Arabic coffee, but I guess that may come in time.

I sure hope that they make it as it seems that everything else that had been in that location closed, but I think that they have a unique and quality menu that will eventually draw crowds.

An hour and a half wait for food is unacceptable; wait staff needs training.

I live just down the street from this establishment and have been eagerly awaiting it's opening. From the outside, it looks inviting and upon entering the restaurant, the smells are very promising as well. Initially, the atmosphere seemed cozy, but a little cramped. As the place filled up, the waiter's behind was constantly in my dinner date's face. You can only apologize so many times for bumping your behind into someone else while they're eating.
The main course took an hour and a half and we did not order anything particularly difficult. Dinner date had the mixed kabob plate and I had the scallops. The scallops were very overcooked (perhaps that's why the food took so long?). The kabob meat was cooked unevenly - some pieces were overcooked and some were raw.

Overall, a disappointing experience. Will not go back.

Great service, great food, great prices!

We had the chicken briwats as an appetizer, which I enjoyed. There was complimentary pitas and hummus! The chicken brochette I ordered was scrumptious, especially the potatoes w/ caramelized onions that came with it. We ended the dinner with some baklava, which was only $3!!

Huge portions, byob steak kash kash - YUM.

French onion soup was awesome! The steak kash kash was grilled perfectly, i will be back for this dish. Menu is very extensive, something for everyone. The portions are huge & the atmosphere is very relaxing.

Great new place!

My fiance and I are always looking for great new places in our neighborhood. We have been here at least 3 times since opening and we love the tomato basil soup! I agree with the other reviews about it taking a long time for the food but each time we had been it was well worth it. If you love good food and conversation it just leaves more time for the conversation! We ususaly go during the week when it is less crowded.
