Had originally eaten here with some friends. My wife and I came back here because we liked here so much. Very good service and nice ambiance. Highly recommended.

Best Nigiri Sushi In The Tri-Valley!!!
Even though our first trip to Kanpai was the longest wait ever of any restaurant we've been to, their nigiri sushi is the BEST ever. Good news is that we had EXCELLENT service during our subsequent visits! Their escolar (butterfish), hamachi (yellowtail) and sake (salmon) nigiri is the best quality sushi served in generous portions and the reason why we will visit Kanpai again and again and again.

AWESOME Escolar (Butterfish) Nigiri
5/1/09 - Last month was our first visit to Kanpai Sushi and although it was pretty slow (understandably so on a Tuesday evening) we waited over 30 minutes to get our sushi! The only server working was on the telephone for the first 15 minutes, hopefully taking a very complicated to-go order. There was only one sushi chef working and we overheard comments from people sitting at the bar complaining about the slow service.
