What service?

The food at General Greene is exceptionally delicious, no question. The staff, for the most part, is friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The service itself, however, is nonexistent. I've been to General Greene at least 6-7 times,...

HORRIBLE!!!! STAY AWAY!!!

After reading the reviews below, I decided the visit June since it's just a quick walk from my new apartment. WHAT A MISTAKE!
The waiter took our order (cajun chicken - fries instead of mashed potatoes- for my mom, and a cheeseburger for me), sounds easy right?
An hour and a half later our order arrived - screwed up.
The chicked came with mashed potatoes, even though she asked for fries instead - and it was cold.
My burger also arrived cold - with a stale, tough, chewy bun(ewww).
When we complained we were greeted with nothing but attitude from the waiters, so we decided to leave. That's when the manager brought some sort of crab cake over, to try to compensate.
We didn't touch it.
The best part is that when the bill arrived, they charged us for the crabcake!
We paid for the main courses, and left (without tipping).
I'll never even walk by this place again, it's so digusting.
Stay away!

Neither good, nor bad

The mediocre service does not offend, but the food, which is fine, is not sufficient to overcome. Poor wine selection, stale bread, and slow arrival of condiments and service wear, but a very tasty burger was delightful--even if it had to be eaten sans its old bun.

Tasty June

LOVE this place. Have been there several times for brunch and decided to try their dinner and it was amazing. The food was delicious, the drinks creative, and the waiter very attentive. I had the scallops and shrimp entre and devoured it. Also love the vintage furniture. Will definitly return.

Inconsistent service & food

The first time my boyfriend and I went to June for dinner we had a great server who was very knowledgeable and friendly. He ordered a great chicken & mashed potatoes dish and I had the lasagna. His was great, mine a bit cool but we overlooked it because overall it was a nice meal.

The second time we went to June was for brunch and we encountered slow (and unprofessional) service. It took about 15 minutes to get drinks, not to mention that our food was cold, the side "salad" was lettuce and no dressing or anything else, and the steak and eggs were chewy and unimpressive.

I would love for June to stand up to the ambitious menu and calming decor-but for now it seems it's just style over substance.

Great customer service

Went for Sunday brunch. We were greeted and seated by a friendly guy with a cool French accent. He took our drink order and they were dilivered promptly. Our waiter was also on the case.He got the order right the first time;Steak, eggs and potatoes. My girl ordered a omelette with goat cheese, spinach and Canadian bacon with home fries.
Over all, the brunch was a very good experence. The food arrived hot, within fifteen mins.or so. Very tasty! The wait-staff was professional and courteous without being stuffy. We will definitly try dinner here as the menu looks interesting.

Good food plagued by poor service

I have eaten at this place twice now, I don't remember much about the first time except I enjoyed the food but not the girl I was eating with.
I was there last night, this time with a dining companion I like a lot more, and again I enjoyed the food. However, the service was poor. I waited something like 15 minutes for a martini, and the place wasn't busy. They pulled the bread basket before we were done with the bread, and before the appetizer arrived! Later in the meal when I inquired if the bar had lemoncello, the waitress had never heard of it (excusable) but she neither brought me any, or told me they didn't have it (unexcusable). When it came time dessert we were told there were only two options and we choose the chocolate cake, when it arrived we found out it was actually chocolate mousse cake. Not a big deal, but please get your desserts straight.
The food was good, we started with the calamari, which was very tasty, though it was served in a baked bean bowl which we both felt was an odd pairing that made getting the squid onto the fork difficult. I had the hanger steak which I was very pleased with, and my date had the salmon which she enjoyed (though I think the salmon wasn't very fresh, but I am a seafood snob).
All in all I enjoy this place I just wish they'd get their waitstaff in order, and then this would go from a good joint to a great restuarant.

Worst food I have EVER EVER EVER had (hands down)

I don't even know where to begin. This place was so awful it actually makes me angry!!
The waitress was perfectly friendly to start off with, and I WANTED to like her, but she took forever to take our order (despite the fact that there were only 2 other tables) and then she forgot my coffee.. when I reminded her, she acted annoyed and didn't apologize for forgetting it. She brought it over without milk or cream or anything, so I had to get her attention again to bring that over, which took her another 10 minutes, by which time my coffee was frozen.
Speaking of frozen, my "eggs florentine" came with a huge pile of pale white limp previously frozen "french fries". I ate like 2 of them, if that. The food was so bland and tasteless that I was not even aware that my eggs had a slice of ham hidden under the frozen spinach. Seriously, I couldn't even taste it. That's not normal. My eggs were runny and undercooked, whereas my date's "croissant french toast" was burnt to a crisp. Charred. We jokingly referred to it as "cajun style".
I am a huge lover of brunch, and having worked for years as a waitress, I usually try to find something nice to say about every dining experience. But what with the absolutely disgusting food and nonexistent service, I can't think of one good thing to say.
Oh, and to top it all off, it was also freezing cold in there. The manager at one point was actually wearing a coat.
And the walls are painted a really hideous putrid green color, which really adds to the feelings of nausea you're left with after eating here.
JUST DON'T GO! STAY AS FAR AWAY AS YOU CAN!

Surprisingly Good Brunch !

At brunch at June and found it surprising good. Had passed by often and did not make much of it . However, the food was tasty. I had the huevos rancheros and by wife had the croissant french toast with actual canadian bacon rather than the usual fare from other restaurants of sliced deli. We enjoyed our meal very much. Although there was one server he kept it together and was remarkably attentative. Not sure it that would have been the case if there were few more tables.

We will definitely go back.
