Chilkoot Charlie's
Chilkoot Charlie's is an Alaskan institution. Featured in Playboy Magazine as one of the best bars in America, you can't leave Anchorage without at least having one drink in this unique establishment. The sawdust on the floor, 3 dance floors (techno, live band, swing dance) and a variety of different bars all add to the ambiance of 'Koots (as we locals like to call it.) Hungry? Chow down at Sal's Grill. Like live bands? Check out the main stage. Techno music hits all the right beats on the south stage. Don't want to fight the crowds getting between the two? Just take the secret Russian Room passageway. Last but not least, the bartenders are amazing and have extensive mixology knowledge. 'Koots is the type of place where you can see a wide range of people - club hoppers, the older crowd, the younger crowd, visitors and pretty much everyone in between.

Chilkoots is a great place to have fun and meet a lot of different people. Only downside is that the mixed drinks are a little expensive, but if you like tap beer then this is the place to go for $1 beers. let me mention all the bars inside this one bar patio bar, spenardi, shooter, the deck, the swing, bird house and the horse shoe bar. all of those bars under one roof so if you like a bar with variety and diffrent music in each place this is the palce to go.

Great Alaskan Tradition
The Famous Chilkoot Charlies is the best bar in anchorage. There have been many bars that have tried to compete and failed. The best feature of this establishment is the various bars available under one roof. There is techno, rap/hip -hop, and rock. I would say the biggest negative is the large crowds that tend to back up the floors leading to the different bars and the fact that you have a lot of guys that grope you. This place is not for the shy person. But if you love to dance and get your groove on, this is the place for you.

Koots
Koots is the best! I have had many a wild nights in this bar! Its great and I might mention that beers are only a dollar if it is before 10pm. It is great to drink dollar beers and grab a piece of pizza on your way home though. Koots has somthing for everyone and someone for everyone this is the single place to hang!Worldwide > United States > Anchorage, AK > Bars
