is it a wiggly french fry or a maggot?
went to the market with my sons, we stopped at Jack's Fish Spot, ordered 2 large fish and chips then sat down at counter, my 13 year old noted the MAGGOTS WRITHING ON FLOOR--that alone, pretty damn sick !!Lots of Seafood
It's just across the street from the main marketplace, so the seafood is a little less expensive here. Most of the time, the selection is good, although they don't have the variety and exotic display...A fishy tradition
Whenever we need (ok, want) dungeness crab, we come to Jack's. You can't get much fresher than scooping the little doomed crustaceans out of the tank and tossing them into the boiler. (Sorry guys, b...fresh fish and bonus entertainment
Jack's Fish Spot is always a great show. Workers throw fish and strike up conversation with customers. You can't beat the freshness and the service is fast!Must eat here
I make it a point to never miss eating here while I am in Seattle. In the heart of the Public Market. Wonderfully fresh seafood prepared right there before your very eyes! No frills--just plain good eating and the price is right. Outstanding "steamers" and the fish and chips are great. More of a take-out place than a restaurant: funky counter seating only but it's part of the experience. Don't miss it.best dungeness crab around!
Jack's Fish Spot seems to be a mirror of the Pike's Place Fish Market at first but what you'll discover is that its much better. Why? Because they actually serve food you can EAT there! Thats right, why just get some seafood to go for home to cook when you can get a fresh steamed dungeness crab right there! Average weight of the crabs is approx. 2lbs. So darn good. Also, try their cioppino. It is excellent as well. The only thing that wasn't too good was the oysters in my opinion. Too much of the sea is not a good thing. Other than that...EXCELLENT food. The seating isn't wonderful, but hey, how can you get a market feel without sitting in a market! Just like fisherman's wharf in San Francisco.Worst fish & Chips
My husband and I came to this tiny spot after having read many great reviews about it, and it was the total opposite of what we read. The fried oyster was fried to the point of being burnt and not eatable. My fried fish was better but I had better fried fish at a Japanese restaurant in the nearby Chinatown. The fries were terribly greasy and mushed together--- just gross. The clam chowder was okay but nothing worth a second try. My seafood stew was again terrible-- lots of not so fresh vegetables with a taste of bad seafood and was having a hard time to find the seafood in the soup.Best Oysters in the Market
If your idea of a good meal includes a white tablecloth then you will definatly want to avoid Jack's. I you are looking for a good meal of fried fish, clams or oysters then you will want to stop here. It is my 1st choice for lunch in the market. Yes they are greasy, but isn't that why we eat them? I come here mostly for the oysters.Worldwide > United States > Seattle, WA > Seafood Restaurants
