It wasn't cheap

Went to see a movie @ 4:50 on a Sunday. Quite suprised to find out that their matinee pricing on the weekend is only good until 2 pm. $9 per ticket. Ouch! Most other theaters cut off the matinee pricing at 5 pm or 6 pm.

Indies Rule!

Now that the Burlingame theatre has switched to an indie house, there is a chance for us Peninsulans to see great indies without having to trek all the way to the City or to Palo Alto.

Recently, the selection included Whale Rider, Winged Migration, and Swimming Pool; great choices in comparison to the masses of summer dredge.

The theatre is NEVER crowded and consequently is very clean.

The concession stand is modestly stocked, though standardly priced.

It would be fabulous if the theater would keep up the art house tradition and start showing cult flicks on Fridays and Saturdays at midnight like many indie houses do; a showing of Donnie Darko or Harold and Maude would be great!

This is a theater worth visiting.

Usually Good

This older theater in Burlingame is usually a good place to see a movie because it is rarely busy. However, on the rare ocassion that it is busy here they are incapable of dealing with it. There was a line going through the parking lot and they only had one ticket window open. When do they open another window? When the movie is starting.

But usually no one is at this theater so it's a great way to avoid movie crowds.
