I doubt I would go to this place again to rescue a pet. I would probably go through someone else to adopt in the future. I visited this paticular humane society several times before we chose a puppy AND a kitten in the same week. I talked several times with the vets about some issues concerning the puppy we chose. She was listed with some health concerns that we talked about with the vet mulitply times. When we put the deposite on teh puppy I thought we had ageed to certain things being done by the humane society before we picked up the puppy.. when I went to pick her up after visiting her daily for over a week, the medical stuff that was ageed to was not done. I was told that I would have to pay for this out of my own pocket. The expence would be in excess of $600-$1200 over the next few months. I later found a vet who is outstanding to work with me. He felt my puppy didn't need the extensive proceedures and is working to correct the issues without the expense we initially expected. IYou have to keep in mind they have a limited budget.
When you visit this humane society you have to understand they are working on a very limited budget. Read the paperwork thoroughly and ask alot of questions! I have adopted several pets here in the past years and have been happy. Do your homework and you will be happy with the results. Keep in mind they rarely include anything in the adoption except initial vet visits, 1st vaccines (done there), and the spay or neuter.Cat missing...
I cannot find my cat anywhere and so I decided to call animal control and the humane society. They did not open until 11 am so I tried the lost pet line. The recording went so fast I had to play it over and over and try really hard to understand it! I went on their website and found that they post photos and descriptions of the animals in both the lost and found section and in the adoption section. I found a cat that perfectly fit the description of my cat but the web site said he was brought in a day before he vanished. I called them to try to find out if they maybe had a typo on their page and if it really was my kitty or not. The woman on the phone was very short with me and rude. She started to riddle off the lost pet line phone number and I stopped her saying I had already listened to it and then she referred me to the website and I explained I had seen it and then she cut me off and said, Well! that's it! and she hung up on me!!!! My family member of 8 years has gone misQuit ur bitchn put ur ass in
I have a great deal of insider info on the Pierce Co./Tacoma Humane Society. This is a non profit organization filled with staff members and tons of volunteers who are only there to do the best thing possible to save and find homes for homeless/abandoned animals. If you have any doubt, give a bit of your time to volunteer to this organization and you will find countless animal lovers who dedicate their lives to these animals, some paid, most not. The executive director, Kathleen Olson, has been such a boost to this organization. She is an animal lover and works her butt off to raise funds to do more, more, more for these souls. I challenge you, if you want to complain about a non profit agency....get involved....donate, give your time. If you care about these animals, put yourself into the fight to save them. Quit your bitchin' and pitch your ass in!Worldwide > United States > Tacoma, WA > Dog Breeders
