I was really pleased with the help I got from the Doctor, she answered my questions, and let me take as much time as I felt I needed to get all the information. I didn't feel rushed or made to hurry at all. She was very gentle with my cat...

Davies Karen Dvm - Pet Samaritan Clinic

Dr. Davies is wonderful.. She has a real heart for veterinary work and is very personable. She explains things clearly and concisely. When investigating a helath problem, she sorks step by steo, rather than leaping to the most extreme and expensive option, first.

If you love your pets: PLEASE DONT GO TO THIS CLINIC

Please do not go to this clinic. Your pets? health will be in jeopardy if you go to this clinic. The facilities are inadequate, filthy and disorganized. The employees are hostile, and they could really careless about you, your pets or their well being. The doctors will give you little time for your concerns, and they will not listen to you. I have spent many hours trying to get adequate care for my animals from this retched excuse for a business. I will never go back to this clinic, and I really hope that NEVER go there.

It's what's INSIDE that counts!

I highly disagree with the other review, which prompted me to construct one myself. I have been a client since 2002. It took me a long while to find a clinic that fit my personality--laid back. people oriented, and all focus on the animal. I was at "home" when I found Pet Sam. They have seen 5 cats of mine, one through hyperthyroidism/kidney failure and one with cancer. Even though I was a struggling college student at the time, the vets and staff were always willing to go over estimates with me and explain procedures again and again if I had any questions. If there was something I couldn't afford, the vets would find yet another way in which they would help my friends. When I lost some of my kids, the staff cried too. It is much more of a family environment than you would expect from the dumpy outside. Again, it's what's INSIDE that counts. I would recommend this clinic to friends and family....and have.

Mixed bag

I started taking my dog here after my mom had used them for her pets for over a decade. While she was always happy with the care(hence the two stars instead of just one), I have been anything but. My first bad experience was about three years ago. The vet tried to talk me into 400 dollars in work that was absolutely unnecessary (my dog was fine and in great shape). This past year I referred a friend there. After three days of wrong diagnosis, she eventually took her dog to another clinic. The other clinic immediately knew what was wrong, but by that point it was too late and her dog died of kidney failure.

My last visit was equally disappointing. The vet was hard to understand, unspecific, and obviously trying to push unnecessary and additional services on me. I am convinced this place, like a shoddy auto mechanic, pushes unneeded services on customers who do not understand. Also, the waiting room is too small, the rooms are uncomfortable, I do not think they walk pets left there enough, the techs and vets do not spend time getting to know the animals, they are consistently behind schedule, and they do not return phone calls by the time they say they will.

Finally and most importantly, my dog absolutely HATES to go there. I used to think this was all vets she disliked. However, I recently took her to a new vet-no such discomfort, and the vet spent FIVE MINUTES petting my dog and making sure she was comfortable before examining her.

I do not like to say negative things about people or places, so this was hard to write. There are nice people that work there, and some of the vets may be better than others. Unfortunately, three strikes and you're out with me. I would suggest looking into other veterinarians.

This is the place to go.

My pets have been cared for by Pet Samaritan for over 15 years and I wouldn't dream of taking them to another vet. The staff knows me by name and they always fawn over my pets in the waiting room. The doctors have always given me expert care and advice, they have always treated my pets like they are one of their own. Every family member or friend that I have sent there has been happy and grateful. Sometimes you wait to see the doctor for awhile but I always know they will spend the same amount of time in the room with my pet. I feel like the place is bussling for a reason, and it is because people flock to them cause they know a good thing when they see it. Go see them you will not regret it!

Preying on Ignorant Customers, an Overall Scam

The first visit to Pet Samaritan was somewhat pleasant. The vet was informative, and actually took the time to answer any and all questions that I had. That's about the extent of the pleasantries. Our second visit to Pet Samaritan begins with my Wife and I walking our playful, energetic, and perfectly healthy dog to Burnside for his appointment. When we checked him in, we told them he had been sneezing a few times in the last couple of days. The vet diagnosed him as being sick (all his vitals were good) and recommended that we hold off on his second installment of parvo dystemper. We decided to reschedule and come back another day. Then we were told we had to pay 50 bucks for the days visit. Keep in mind that this was not a checkup visit, we took our dog in for a vaccination, and after 5 minutes he is diagnosed as being sick, and we are charged 50 bucks for nothing. We decided to go ahead with the vaccination, simply because on top of knowing that our dog was healthy, we just weren't about to hand over 50 dollars, because of course, it would happen again. Our "cute" vet tech lady got into a near shouting match with my wife over our decision, ridiculing her in front of all the other customers, playing the "You really don't love your pet!" card. That's only the half of it, but you get the idea.

Caring staff, happy cat

I have been taking my cat to see Dr. Erickson since 2006, and our experiences have been positive. My cat was having chronic ear infections, and my other vet continued to insist it was earmites despite negative testing and other symptoms including facial sores. On a referral, I took him to Dr. Erickson, and she actually listened to my concerns. At one point I declined lab work because we couldn't afford it, and instead they gave me a discount so we were able to complete the test. When I have declined treatment due to expense, she has always been supportive and worked with us on a treatment plan I could afford. I have never felt uncomfortable or pressured for unnecessary treatment. I have needed to be proactive about cost management by asking if services recommended were necessary or could be completed at home, (like ear cleaning). Overall I have been much more satisfied with the care my cat gets here, and I would recommend Dr. Erickson to any of my friends.

Great start, horrible ending. Please read.

I first went to Pet Samaritan because it was close to my house and I didn't have a car. My first visit went well. The receptionists and Dr. Erikson seemed kind and kowledgeable. I was given meds to treat my cat with, and all seemed like it was going to be great.
The medicine cure my cat's "cold," but his eye condition never seemed to go away. With each visit, the doctor became progressively rude towards me despite her wanting me to keep bringing him in. In just about a month's time, I had racked near $600 in vet bills for a condition that wasn't going away. Just before was would have been my last visit there, I told the receptionist that I was hesitant to bring him and pay another $50 to have the doctor just tell me to keep with the terramycin (eye ointment for the "conjunctivitis"). The receptionist informed me that my visits should have only been $25. I felt like a rock had just landed in my stomach. I had been charged at least $50 for each visit, ON TOP of all the procedures and meds for my cat. The receptionist paused and then decided to tell me that it is always the doctor's discretion how much I get charged.
I took my kitten companion another vet and found out that my cat had been misdiagnosed. The med that Dr. Erikson kept insisting that I give my cat was only aggravating his condition (ulcer). So in short, they over charged me, charged me for services I now doubt they performed, and treated my baby like he didn't matter. I will never step foot there again.

Creepy, traumatic experience

Stinky, crowded, noisy, long wait in the waiting room. The 'chart' I needed to fill out for my first and only visit was a thinly disguised marketing survey, asking nothing about my cat, instead it was trying to determine "how much I loved her" "how long did I want her to live" and "how much I was willing to pay to keep her healthy," (I should've left then).
The tech was obviously rushed or else just plain rude, dumped my cat from the carrier out on a cold exam table, flipped her around and jammed a thermometer up her rear, which earned him a bite after he yanked it out.
I tried to calm my now extremely agitated cat but the tech yelled at me to not touch my cat, because of liability issues. At this point I should've just taken her away.
By the time the vet came in, he wouldn't touch my cat or examine her and without an exam he diagnosed her (incorrectly), and suggested running other tests but they'd need to remove her from the room to do that where I couldn't be present. No way was I turning my cat back over to that tech, especially without my presence. I declined, paid them way too much for the experience and left.

wondering what I paid for

When to Pet Smaritan because they said they specialized in small pets. I brought in my new ferret for her first visit. I had a 30 minute wait for a 5 minute appointment. I felt like I knew more about ferret than the vet did. The form I filled out asked about what kind of advice I needed or if there were behavior issues I would like to talk about. None of which were addressed in the appointment. There was no discussion about vaccinations or care for my new ferret or help with training ideas or anything helpful. They took her temperature, weighed her, and listened to her heart. The vet did little to no physical exam with her, gave no advise expect that if the sneezing she had been doing became "chronic" to bring her back in. But he could not explain what chronic sneezing would be. He said the internet had a lot of helpful resources and that they had some panphets about ferrets. For this I was charged $46, and I left there wondering what I had paid for. I will never go back there again and I am looking for a real vet to take her for her shots and exams. Very dissappointing experience.
