Hollywood Nails & Spa

An A+ in my book for nail salons. Friend took me here while I was in Dallas. They have two floors - you can book a party here. We did not have to wait for our appointment, pedicure was relaxing and the polish held nicely. Staff was friendly and we had a good conversation.

Worst Service EVER!!!!

WARNING!!!! If you have an idea of what you want for a manicure... do NOT go here. If you would be paranoid by your manicurist pointing and laughing at you while talking in a foreign language... DO NOT GO HERE!!!

IF YOU ARE GETTING MARRIED AND WANT A FRENCH MANICURE FOR YOUR BIG DAY AND EXPECT TO GET WHAT YOU ASK FOR DO NOT GO HERE!!!

This was BY FAR the WORST experience I have ever had at a nail salon in my life, and here's why:

My best friend was getting married, let's just call her Tracy. She and I went to this salon to get our nails done. Tracy asked for a French manicure. First, Tracy's technician started to cut her nails with out asking, and Tracy had been trying to grow them out, so she asked this woman not to. The woman (and I am not kidding) would not hear of it and cut her nails anyways. I can promise you there was no language barrier. The woman actually said "No, I cut"

Then, she started pointing at my friends face and laughing while talking in another language. I could notice Tracy about to tear up, so when I asked what the problem was, the lady said "You need eyebrows waxed." Uh, no, but thanks for making her self conscious about it.

From then on, it only got worse, but I'll to cut to the worst part. We had both asked for a french manicure. After we paid for our services, I was getting the polish on and Tracy looked over at my nails and said "How come yours look so different than mine?" I looked at Tracy's to see the technician had painted a HOT PINK top coat on Tracy's nails. Since only three nails had been painted with this hideous polish, Tracy asked if she can have my top coat. The lady said "I'm sorry, too late." and continued to polish the rest of her nails with the awful color. Naturally, it's Tracy's big day tomorrow, so at this point, we decided to make a little more of a fuss and asked to have the polish changed. After she was done with the entire hand while we begged for the nice pale pink top coat, she agreed to "fix" it which included painting over the hot pink with the pale pink, which clearly did nothing. Tracy pleaded one more time to please fix it and the woman said "Sorry, it's already done."

WHAT?!?!

We held our ground and asked for what we felt as though our payment of services entitled us to... satisfaction. We asked her to remove the hot pink top coat and cover it with the pale pink. The technician GOT UP AND LEFT!!! Not joking. Another technician had to finish her nails!!!

After all this, we asked for the tip back... just the tip... because the girl certainly did not deserve to receive one. After even speaking to the manager, we were not given any refund on the tip, much less an apology!!!

At the end, Tracy walked out in tears and $30 short for an awful experience that should have been a relaxing one before her big day.

THIS PLACE WAS AWFUL!!! (can you tell I hate this place? Ha!)

GREAT place and great work!

Have been through several nail salons in Dallas and the midcities area over the last several months seeking decent solar nails. Everyone either gets them too thick, or gets the curvature of the white wrong, or something else... they just never looked good. Finally went to Hollywood Nails & Spa and had some of the best work done ever!

The salon is clean and comfortable. They use new files, buffers and brushes for each client and they're yours to keep when you leave... if you don't want them, they throw them away. Hollywood is a full-service place with spa pedicures, waxing, facials, and massage. I've only had the fills and spa pedicure done, but a friend has had waxing there too, and we're both really pleased with the services. The nail stations have 15" LCD TV's at each end w/cable, so you can watch what you want to on TV instead of suffering through whatever the techs choose to watch on the one TV mounted to the ceiling in many salons. Best of all, this place serves beer and wine! Tell me that relaxing in a massage chair getting a spa pedicure while drinking a glass of merlot isn't heaven.

It's well worth a visit... please visit Hollywood Nails & Spa and support them in their efforts to provide a truly unique experience in Dallas spa/salons.

To the person posting the first review, I'm sorry you got a rude technician that supposedly pointed at your friend and laughed, but that could happen anywhere.... there are DOZENS of techs working at Hollywood, and the ones I've had were WONDERFUL. If you stand up firmly enough for what you want in any situation, you'll get it; if not, you have no one to blame but yourself. You should have both walked out when the tech supposedly refused to stop cutting your friend's nails. And why did you tip BEFORE the visit was over, then expect your tip returned? Everyone knows to tip at the end of the visit, and only IF you're happy. Again, no one to blame but yourself.

Average nails, poor service

Last week, I had my nails done at Hollywood. I had to remind the lady to use the lotion because she started painting my nails without giving me my favorite part (the massage). Then, she told me I was wrong and the lotion always comes last. Which is not only something I have never experienced before, but the other manicurists next to us were all doing the massage before the polish. After I brought that to her attention, she was rude during the rest of the service.

No one offered any drinks like I was told either.

Incredibly Rude Service

Hollywood Nails is a great concept for a salon and spa, but repeated experiences with rude, snappy and condescending staff make me never want to go back despite the quality services. Phone calls and appointment bookings are handled gruffly and without any gratitude or graciousness.

WORST EVER!!!

I can't believe they have the nerve to call themselves a spa. It's basically the same as the places downtown that charge $20/hour, and the massage I got was much worse than I've had in those places. Therapist was rude, people kept coming in and having conversations with her while I was getting massaged. Awful! The "therapist" I had did not understand a single word of English. Her massage was painful, and I could not communicate with her, neither with words or gesticulations, that I wanted the massage to be less strong. The massage was a joke - she used lotion/oil for about 10 minutes of the 45 minute treatment, and she was chaffing my skin. Don't waste your money. Worst massage experience ever.

Worst Salon Experience I've Ever Had

I cannot think of a single positive thing to say about my experienece at this salon. The customer service is non-existant and the quality of the manicure I received was ridiculously poor. The manicurist rushed through the job, made decisions (such as polish color) without consulting me, and stormed away from the table in a huff when I politley (and I emphasize POLITELY) asked her to change the color.

Not only did I get a botched manicure (which I ended up having to remove and redo myself the next day due to the poor quality), I also was on the receiving end of the rude remarks of my manicurist and her coworker. They tried to upsell other services to me and embarrasingly pointed out my "flaws" and laughed together as they tried to make their case. Let me say, I failed to see the humor. I've never been treated so rudely in a salon.

I'm a pretty patient and understand person. I've worked in the customer-service industy myself, so I RARELY complain when I have a bad experience. However, this was definitely an exception. I informed management of the situation, and I must say they were no better than the staff. Rather than apologize or try to ensure my return, they treated me as if I were to blame.

Don't waste your time with this place. Rude comments aside, they just did a very poor job...bottom line. There are many other salons in Dallas that know how to treat a customer AND give a quality manicure.

In response to "nada90291" comment, when you pay with a credit card for a manicure, they get you to do payment before your nails are painted... so naturally, we all tip for the service while we are signing off on the receipt. I've never tiped for a manicure after the service was entirely complete... Not sure how you manage to do so with wet nails.

Three strikes and it's out...

The first time I visited this salon it was one of the best manicures and pedicures I'd received in Dallas. However, my last three visits to this place (it is NOT my salon of choice; I usually come here when a group of us goes to get our nails done) have been utterly disappointing. I agree wholeheartedly with the reviews citing rude, condescending staff and poor service all around.

For example, every time I would explain to the man doing my nails how I preferred them (short and natural looking) he would cut me off and pretend to not understand English. I finally had to stop him before he painted them to AGAIN say I would like them trimmed shorter. In return, I received a look of disgust before he finally trimmed them shorter. If this happened just once I would cite a "bad day" or something, but this has happened to me the last three visits, which has competely turned me off.

What is the worst about this place is that it is the only salon in Dallas where I have gotten the feeling that the staff actually IS talking about you! As an example, on another visit, the man doing my pedicure was very obviously saying something about me to the woman doing my pedicure. It made me very uncomfortable and they made no attempt to be friendly at all.

But the final straw to this place is the poor product. My nails (which are solar) never have even tips, chip after about 3 days (after one visit I had to get the set completely redone within 4 days, as over 5 nails had chipped!), and are unven on their surface. Plus, it is one of the more expensive salons in the area! I would definitely recommend other salons over this place--regardless if they have TV's everywhere!

Beautiful place, but the staff needs to be re-trained on the importance of CS!

I visit ?religiously? the Frisco location since they?ve opened a year+-ago. Great looking place inside, nicely decorated, clean for the most part-although it could use some serious dusting, but the staff?Well, like most nail salons this1 isn?t much different. I?m talkn`of course about the?gals & boys?who work there. 1st & 4most why don?t these places EVER have@ least the ?GreedR?;front desk person, who possesses somewhat of an idea of what good C/S is?The "dude" in Fricso seems to dislike his job, has 0 C/S skills & sadly, appears to care less. It?s a miracle if you get him to answer a ??s & when he does, it?s w/that; ?why doU bother me right now? look. He needs to move on if this isn?t ?his cup of tea?; otherwise smile, even if it?s fake!
Then we have the staff; all talking in a language that is understood only by them. What can be said?Surely we?ve all been around various ethnicities @ some point or another & should have learned the importance of communicating using a familiar for most tool. In a place of business, not only is it inappropriate to non-stop ramble on to your co-workers when engaging w/a client but rude as well if you?re doing it in a language that?s not understand by the client. My last visit was just yesterday & apparently the ?GreedR?, who is also a Mngr there, is out for the next couple of weeks. Boyyyyyyy, was that ?joint? out of control!!!! If I had to rate the place strictly based on yesterdays experience, I would never come back! Everyone was all over the place, phones were ringing off the hook, the walk-in clients were left @ the front desk unattended @ the girl who takes care of me was doing my nails, answering phones, taking payments & making appointments. COME-On` PEOPLE!-where is the service we all pay such high $$$ for?

Terrible Job on Pink and Whites

I went here for my first fill after I got my pink and whites. I cannot even believe how absolutely horrible they looked. The line between the pink and the white was so jagged and they just looked "messy." I was so freaked out that I ever even got them in the first place, thinking that this is what they were going to look like from then on every time I got a fill. Thankfully, I now go to Katherine at Beverly Hills Nails across the street and she is incredible -- my nails always look perfect when I leave. Plus, for such terrible quality, Hollywood sure does charge a lot. Not impressed at all.

Best Pedicure

I was extremely surprised with the service after reading the other reviews. I received top notch customer service and had a heavenly experience. My sister and I decided to stop in while shopping, and from the moment we entered until we left, we were treated well, and did not have one compliant. I will definately return although I live in Houston. Hopefully I will have a chance to return soon. Please give this place a chance.

Just OK

I went in without an appointment on a Saturday afternoon, and was pleasantly surprised to get a manicure without having to wait. The rest of the experience was mediocre at best. They advertise their wine bar, yet I was never offered wine or any other beverage for that matter. I would gladly have paid for a glass of chardonnay. The manicurist was gentle, and I was pleased that for the first time ever I didn't feel a pinch or two when she trimmed my cuticles. In the end though, my nails just looked as if I had filed them myself. They were not perfectly shaped as you would expect them to be when you walk out of the salon. I don't like the way they insist on cash for tips rather than letting you add it to the credit card. Seems shady to me.

How is this place still open???

As a former salon owner, I have to say that it genuinely surprises me that this place is still open. The only reason my friends and contacts know of the place of because of its impressive size; but every time I mention the salon it seems that everyone has had a horrible experience with the service and customer service. So I decided to check it out for myself and report - and I can honestly speak from experience that place lives up to their dented reputation. I felt rushed the entire time, they were rude and just not aware of sanitary standards that I know to look for - and believe me, the consequences to their lackadaisical efforts to remain sanitary will affect your health significantly (google it). Slightly less significant, but important to me, my technician went from cutting my cuticles to the nail polish. I asked her where my lotion massage was and she assured me that she massaged after the nails were painted. Clearly she did not want to admit that she was too busy talking to her friends to notice she missed the best step in the manicure that we all love! And, she really did try to massage my feet around my wet polish... amazing. For your serenity, money and most importantly, health, DO NOT go to this place.

Don't Waste time and money here

I would not recomment this spa to anyone. The massage that I received was rushed, aggressive, sloppy, and used way too much oil on me. She was clanking things everywhere and pumping the oil right next to my ear, making it hard to relax. The area in the back where the lockers are is nice but a little too cramped. Also some of these wooden lockers they have would not lock. I was initially excited to come here to try out a massage and possibly return for other services. After today's experience I do not plan to come here again.
