My experience with Dr. Mindel has been very positive! I have been very pleased with his knowledge of the body and understanding alternative methods to healing. For me, my pain began to subside after Dr. Mindel took me off of night shades, dairy and sugar, paired with the baths. Once I began my new "diet" (sometime in the month of Sept) it was about 3 weeks later than I realized I wasn't living with the constant pain. I continue to stay off of all night shades, most dairy and breads completely. The sugar part I am not so great at, but the constant day-to-day pain is still gone.
I have been suffering from allergy related sinus issues for the last few years that have only progressively gotten worse, leading to other hurdles in my health including things such as fatigue, nausea, etc. After numerous ent / allergist visits, and 2 sinus surgeries to fix the issues at hand, a friend recommended that I go the holistic route. I researched holistic practices in the city, and was extremely intrigued by Dr. Mindel’s practice. I can’t say enough how happy I am that I decided to come in for a visit. I’ve been seeing Dr. Mindel for almost 3 months now, and for the first time in 2 years I feel like I am on my way to feeling better. The constant pain in my face from the sinusitis has subsided, and I have regained a normal appetite. Overall, I am feeling happier and more energized, and am excited to continue down this path to see how much further it can take me. I would highly recommend setting up a visit with Dr. Mindel.
I have had chronic pain for more than 30 years and thought I would simply live with it. A wonderful friend of mine told me about Dr. Mindel and I made an appointment because I had been searching for 2 years for help to relieve chronic fatigue and many years of chronic pain (at least 30 years). Never ever had I told anyone the extent of the pain. For some reason I told Dr. Mindel about the fatigue and all the pain and thought he would tell me he couldn't really help me. To my great astonishment he began to muscle test and treat me and within seconds, not minutes, but seconds, most of the pain was gone. Now, after just a few sessions with Dr. Mindel, I am free of the chronic fatigue and am not in any physical pain. A great addition to Dr. Mindel is his lovely secretary, Jill. She makes the office visits a comfortable, welcoming and pleasant experience and checks and double checks with Dr. Mindel in case I have questions that I may have forgotten to address during my appointments with Dr. Mindel.
I had been suffering from a painful shoulder problem for over a year. I had tried months of acupuncture, pain medications, icing, stretching, and massage, and yet the pain kept increasing. At night I endured excruciating pains which left me unable to sleep and during the day, basic daily functions had me wincing. I had stumbled across a brochure for Holistic NYC on the bulletin board where I worked, and after looking it over, realized, This is exactly the doctor I have been looking for. However, it wasn’t until another frustrating experience at a medical clinic with subpar care, that I finally contacted Dr. Mindel. From the first phone call I made to the office, I immediately had a great feeling about the practice. After a very warm and understanding conversation with Dr. Mindel’s assistant, Jill, I had an appointment the following week. From the start, Dr. Mindel, was interested in and spoke with me about my overall health, from diet, energy, emotional health to stress level. From there, we worked out the best diet and appropriate nutritional supplements to rid my body of toxins. With each visit and treatment, my pain subsided a bit more, and now my shoulder pain is completely gone. In addition, my body feels strong, my extreme PMS symptoms have subsided, my acne is finally starting to clear up naturally, and sinus headaches have decreased dramatically. If you’re looking for a doctor who will help you get to the root of your problems, this is the place. Dr. Mindel is committed to helping you achieve an overall sense of health and well-being. As someone living without health insurance, I am grateful for his understanding and dedication. In fact, he was even willing to assist in setting up a monthly payment plan to assure that financial concerns never hindered the progress of completing my treatments. I actually look forward to my visits to the doctor now, and highly recommend Dr. Mindel to anyone who wants to take charge of their health.
After just 2 months of treatment for leg cramps, a pulled hamstring, and stress, I am feeling much healthier under the care of Dr. Mindel. I have worked in retail for over 15 years and my body has suffered from standing for several hours a day. I have enjoyed some relief from foot soaks, massages, and stretching but none have addressed the root causes of the discomfort throughout my body. Dr. Mindel and his assistant use an intuitive and gentle approach that makes me feel nurtured unlike mainstream medical treatment. I have also made huge dietary changes with Dr. Mindel's guidance which has helped me lose weight and develop a clear mental state in less than 2 months.
After a 2 week hospital stay for a mersa staff infection in my left ankle, I then completed another 2 week dose of antibiotics, 4 weeks total. I had lost 12 lbs, had an upset stomach and overall body weakness. "Modern" medicine, while saving my life, left me wiped out and without recourse to heal the body exhaustion it caused and the doctors, while excellent at what they did, had no idea or interest in how to further heal from the illness, as their job was done. Dr. Mindel, thru his deep understanding of the healing arts, was able in a few visits to stabilize my body and return me to vigorous health, which I now enjoy. His method, synthesized from several areas, of asking the body questions and then "resetting" the body has cured me ,additionally, from aches and pains I have had for years, that regular chiropractic never fixed.
Like most patients, I stopped visiting the doctors when I feel good. So, I had to go back to Dr. Mindel in October 2010 as my thyroid (TSH 3rd generation) level came out to be high. Again, Dr. Mindel prescribed me with high quality supplements that my body needed during this time and went through another detox program. If it wasn't for my abnormal thyroid levels stated on a piece of paper, I thought I felt very healthy. After a few sessions with Dr. Mindel, I started to have more energy, less hair falling off during shower and all minor symptoms of PMS & bloating were gone! With absolutely no help from traditional medicine, my last blood test for TSH 3rd generation thyroid level is normal.
I have suffered from constipation since my childhood. My "regular" doctor down played my problem and even said it is considered normal having bowel movements every three days. Senna (an herbal laxative) was my savior for years until I met Dr. Mindel. After only three visits with Dr. Mindel I'm finally able to "go" every day without the help of Senna. I also have had a constant runny nose for the last few years (it wasn't such an issue for me and I even forgot to mention it to Dr Mindel). I'm happy to say that I can leave my house without tissues. I am very grateful to Dr. Mindel and his lovely assistant Jill. I am just amazed with Dr. Mindel's knowledge and practice. Thank you so much!
When I first came to Dr. Mindel I was in excruciating pain. I was constantly bloated and crampy. After having gone through two colonoscopies and one endoscpy- to no avail- I decided to seek alternative routes. Prior to seeing Dr. Mindel, I had been experiencing continual discomfort for two years. Over the course of those years I saw at least five (Western-medicine) doctors and attempted at least three diets to eliminate what they suggested might be the problem. Today, I have no intestinal pain, I have more energy than I’ve had in years and less general anxiety (something that, with the help of Dr. Mindel, I can see the connection between mental and physical). I have a clear mind and I am no longer distracted by my physical pain.
First and foremost, I think it’s important to say a few things about my general health and activity level. I am a 28-year-old female who has been active her whole life, no health problems to speak of, used to be an avid runner, and am currently a 4-times-a-week yogi. I believe in seeing my doctor each year, and up until Dr. Mindel, have monitored my health solely using Western Medicine. I also work in pharmaceutical advertising (so clearly, I’m not opposed to medicine). However, about 2 years ago, I started experiencing issues and symptoms that had me not just puzzled, but upset, in pain, and aggravated. In December of 2007, I had a stomach virus that had me vomiting and lethargic for almost a week. About 10 days after I began to feel better, my left knee randomly swelled up to the size of a small balloon. A day later the swelling went away. The next day, it came back—worse. My knee swelling and pain was monitored (unsuccessfully) by two different orthopods (I had multiple scans, x-rays, an MRI and fluid aspiration on more than one occasion.) Once it was said to be “non-mechanical,” I was sent to a rheumatologist. I had vial after vial of blood drawn and tested...with no clear diagnosis made. Weeks went by, and I’m hearing words like “lupus,” “multiple sclerosis,” and “rheumatoid arthritis.” Finally, I got the diagnosis: Reactive Arthritis. I was given high doses of methylprednisolone (a steroid) for a few weeks, and was then started on a medication called azulfidine (which I was to take every day for an indefinite amount of time). I also got two cortisone injections in my knee. I was FREAKED out to say the least. I started having extreme anxiety, which culminated in my first ever panic attack. I was constantly dizzy, nauseous, I lost 10 pounds, I felt faint all the time (at work, at the grocery store, in movie theaters). I ate about 12 Peptos a day. In March 2008, I went to see my first ever psychiatrist. I felt like I was going crazy. The psychiatrist wrote me a script for Zoloft (25mg daily) and another for Xanax (.25mg to take as needed). By Aug 2008, my knee and anxiety were generally under control, until one day when had a check up with my OB-GYN. He felt a cyst in my ovary and believed it to be quite large. After multiple internal sonograms (which are NOT pleasant), I was told to start birth control pills to try and shrink the size of the cyst. I did, and the cyst did eventually burst without needing major abdominal surgery. But my OB recommended that I stay on the birth control pills indefinitely. For the few months after that, I basically hung in. There were days when I felt great, but more often than not, I felt anxious, dizzy, nauseous. I was taking a handful of pills each day, even though my 91-year-old grandmother only takes 1 a day. It felt unhealthy for me to be taking all of that medicine. So, in May of 2009, I contacted Dr. Mindel. He was recommended by a co-worker’s family member, and I was definitely skeptical, but felt I had nothing to lose. My first meeting with him, we sat and I outlined the whole story. I told him that I was less concerned about my knee at that point, and more concerned with feeling better (ie: not nauseous, dizzy, panicky). He immediately said: “I can help you.” His methods are obviously different than what most Western Medicine followers are used to. He “asks” your body what’s wrong, and what it needs to get better. After some of his tests, he found that I had an issue with yeast/mold/fungus (which he loops into one general category). He put me on a 6-week Candida diet (with some modifications—I could eat fruit, for example) and gave me some supplements to take. He said to stop the azulfidine (which I did immediately) and the birth control pills (which I did immediately). Within a week, and I’m not exaggerating, I felt like a new person. The gross feeling in my throat went away. I felt full of breath (as opposed to feeling all clamped up and tense), I was able to really be “present” during my day. I wasn’t dizzy, I wasn’t nauseous, I wasn’t panicky. The diet was hard, and I can’t lie about that. But the fact that I felt better was all it took to keep me eating according to the rules. I haven’t taken a Xanax in months. As for my knee, the results came a bit slower. I definitely still have days when it hurts a bit. And there are times when it becomes slighted swollen (usually after a night out, traipsing around in 4-inch heels). But over all, the change has been noticeable. Seeing Dr. Mindel is always interesting. And whenever I find myself questioning his techniques or his methods, I say to myself: nothing he’s doing is hurting me. I’m not taking any medicine. I’m not having blood drawn. I’m not exposing myself to anything that’s radioactive...it’s all natural. My experience has been extremely positive and I would recommend him to anyone.
I had several serious sinus surgeries that compromised my immune system and I was in need of help. I had gained unexplained weight and my energy levels were low. I was able to connect with Dr. Mindel and he was able to explain many things about why my body was not functioning at an optimum level. Once we began working together toward putting the pieces of my broken system back in balance, my health began to take on a different light and I began to flourish. I have referred a few of my colleagues to Dr. Mindel. I am very thankful for his expertise and knowing.
Dr. Mindel was recommended to me by, my then, very good MD to help heal my injured leg. I soon found out Dr. Mindel was much more than a chiropractor who was very skilled at helping injured muscles, ligaments, etc. to heal. All of his magic worked for me from day one! One of my biggest health problems at the time I met Dr. Mindel was my failing eyesight. I am one of the lucky patients that have benefited from ALL the new knowledge Dr. Mindel has acquired over the years. His diagnostic skills are excellent and if there's something he can't help he says so. His latest “magic” painless adjustments are unbelievable but true! Whenever I have a health concern I see Dr. Mindel first. Anita B.
