At least we have a story to tell !

Reservations were made 12 days earlier for 7:30. We were saying at the Madison. Their first mastake was sitting four women at the worse table by the door. While there were 3 other tables available we were told they were not available. We had specifically requested a quiet table when reservations were made. Appetisers were served 1 hr apart and we had to ask for the others. We complained about how late our entres were and we were finally served at 10:00 pm!! Three of the 4 meals (seafood) were cold. They were partially rewarmed (microwaved?) and we were given the same dish we had eaten off. It was not a fresh new serving. AND, now it was now 10:30

Best restaurant in Memphis by Far

First I must say that I am very picky about restaurants having been raised by a family in the business of find dining. I have been here repeatedly and I can say that their steak (especially the Kansas City bone in and the Cowboy Ribeye) are amazing. Most places put so much sauce on the steaks that you can't tell the quality of the meat, but not Grill 83. Grill 83 marinates the steaks just right and they have always prepared it to the temperature I have specified. The lamb is amazing, and I am extremely picky about my lamb. The service was very profession and quick. The ambience makes me feel like I am in the middle of New York City. You will not be dissapointed in any way if you go to Grill 83. It is perfect for dates and business occassions especially.

Amazing steaks and incredibly fresh seafood!!!

I took a group of friends down to Grill 83 last week after having heard they had a new chef from Memphis. My wife and dine out downtown about once a week, and have eaten at just about every restaurant in town. In the past our experiences there have been good, but nothing that stood out to make us go back very often.
Upon arrival the restaurant was very busy, and had a large crowd at the bar. The hostess seemed to slide right through the crowd to us, and sat all six of us promptly. That was a first for Grill 83. The service at the table was some of the most professional that we have seen in Memphis. And even though the restaurant was extremely full, we could only see two servers in the place. The server was very excited about the new menu and new chef, and she made some amazing recommendations. We loved the tomato and watermelon salad, the tuna tartar, crab with mango and avocado, and those were just the appetizers. I had the duck with fois gras and duck sausage, and my wife had the salmon. Everyone else at the table had steaks. All six of us were so pleased with our food, and the wine that our server had recommended. We were so amazed with this young girl, and how experienced and knowledgeable she was. We saw the chef as he walked to the front of the restaurant in the middle of our meal, and he seemed very young as well. We expected an older gentleman, probably french. That was quite a shock. For dessert we had some amazing sorbets and a couple of chocolate souffles. Those too were top notch. In the end we were very impressed with the entire experience. Having dined all over New York and Chicago, this is one of the best restaurants that I have encountered and I can not believe that it is here in Memphis. Someone has really turned this place around!
