The best for dog and cat supplies!
This was one of the first stores I shopped at when I moved to Seattle - after all, I needed to keep my cat happy! They have a great selection of cat and dog toys (I found my cat's favorite toy, a catnip-stuffed squirrel, here), and the prices are very reasonable. As an added bonus, they work in conjunction with local rescues to place animals, so you're likely to find a cage full of kittens or a dog or two hanging out in the shop, waiting to be adopted.Fun toys, stylish dog carriers, healthy treats
Great Dog Shoppe is the retail portion of what I believe to be Great Dog Daycare, a dog-sitting program. I enjoy shopping at their little retail area when I'm there on weekends for fun runs with my dog or if he's getting groomed (they also have groomers on staff).Cruel Grooming
I have had extremely poor service here, but what was worse was how one of the groomers treated a firend and her dog. The dog was ill with problems with loss of fur and loose skin. She had difficulty standing. She had been to the Great Dog monthly for several years.Of course I rated it a 5 :)
Hi. I'd like to respond to the last posting. I am the founder and co-owner of Great Dog in Seattle. I am truly sorry that you (and your friend) had a lousy experience with us. That is certainly NOT the type of guest service we are about at Great Dog. As many people can attest to...we do care....about each and every dog in our care and those that come through our doors.FAILED THEIR HEALTH INSPECTION!!!!
I have to spread the word on this.Get Real at Great Dog
Great Dog Daycare, overnight playcare, grooming, retail, and many, many more services is actually the best all around shop I've ever had the pleasure of visiting. I breed and show dogs that require skilled haircuts, and the groomers at Great Dog followed the guides for my breed very, very well. My dogs have enjoyed the day long experience of being at the spa for their groomings. I have taken my last 2 litters of puppies there at 6 weeks for their first haircuts. This is a critical time, and any bad experience could stick with them. Instead, they are a delight to groom, including toenails.Response to Anonymous
**RESPONSE TO HEALTH INSPECTION POST*** I am not sure if it is customary to respond to a negative review, but, in all honesty, we felt compelled to explain the negative review left by anonymous writer.Great groomers!
After three years of trying various groomers around town, I finally have found one I can stick with. Great Dog has groomers that really know what they're doing and while the price was a little higher ...great dog is a great place!
I have 3 dogs that go to day care here. They love it. And, I love the peace & quiet at home after the fun-filled day of play. Great dog people are wonderful to the dogs and the customers. We do our food and toy shopping here as well. The staff help us pick out the right food and will even do special orders for us! Highly recommended!Do not take your dog here!!!!
I boarded my dog with these people and when I picked her up they said that she had a "small scratch" on her face...by small scratch they apparently meant gash across the top of her nose. When I got her home it was apparent that the gash wasn't the only injury she sustained at their establishment. Her eye was red and swollen and when I bathed her the next day I saw that she had several deep puncture wounds on her face and by her mouth. They never called me to let me know that she had been injured and they did not take her to the vet to be examined. If that weren't enough reason to never use this place again they also informed me that it was going to be $162.00 for three days of boarding and not 75.00 (25.00/day) that I had believed that I would be paying. To make a long story short I do not recommend this place as a daycare or a boarding facility. I will never take my poor dog back to this dump and you shouldn't either!!!A great place to take your dog
I've been taking my dog to Great Dog for training and daycare for the past two years. The staff and trainers are knowledgeable, friendly and very interested in the health and well being of my dog. The trainers always answer my questions, and the class sizes are small enough that each dog gets individual attention. The trainers never talk down to you or make you feel like your less than a good pet parent. Their daycare is the best - my dog is a bit of a shy guy, especially around big dogs. They listened to my concerns, and worked with him in the small dog group and he eventually graduated to the big dog group. He's thrilled when I pull up to the building and can't wait to get into the daycare. The daycare has very sensible rules in place that prevent fights - dogs who display inappropriate behaviors are not allowed in daycare and there is actually a "try out" that they do where they observe your dog interacting to be sure that he/she is appropriate for daycare. I would recommend them highly!Very, very friendly people!
I work near where the adventure park is that Great Dog takes the dogs to, so I've talked to the employees often. They're very happy with the dogs, they are very curtieous and it's obvious they love what they do! When they take the dogs to the park they talk to them the entire time, and keep them engaged in play. The dogs always come out of the van happy and excited, and they leave tired, but wagging their tails.Worldwide > United States > Seattle, WA > Dog Breeders
