Great Little Cafe/Bakery In Midtown! Made To Order Omelette's & Fresh Baked Muffins!
At the corner of P'tree & 8th, Star Bakery is a good find for breakfast and baked goods. Breakfast is served all day. The omelettes are made to order, thin and filled with your choice of indgredients. Chesse grits are tasty also. But the real star here, are the baked inhouse muffins, cakes, and pies. The Blueberry Muffins were terrific. We grarbed our order on this warm March morning, and headed out front to the shared patio, which includes Noodle and Little Azio. This is a true find, in this high-rise condo canyon. This is what a cafe should be like...
I really like this cafe. The inside atmosphere is pretty generic but the outside patio is fantastic on a spring day. Unlike a lot of outdoor seating in Midtown, the patio is right in the sun for most of the day so it's not too chilly even with a breeze. They've even got music inside and out. They offer free wireless which is fantastic if you want to hang around have a cup of coffee/pastry. Their chicken salad plate was delicious and comes with a large portion of fresh fruit. I'm definitely going to become a regular to the Goldstar cafe.Pancakes melt in your mouth, great location, and heavenly deserts
Goldstar is centrally locate in downtown atlanta, and serves the best brakfast omlette you want to have,I had great service, and the hostess was funny. They also sell breakfast all day which is key.Subpar food, slow and rude service and they always get my order wrong
I work right next to Gold Star and have been going there since I moved to Atlanta. It used to be ok, just ok when they had different help behind the counter. But over the past year or so service has diminished...a lot. The new guy who always has his blue tooth in waiting for a call, acts like he is doing you a favor by taking your order, is slow and very rude. I don?t eat meat and often ask for breakfast with no bacon or sausage or whatever, most times it is wrong and they always over charge me. I mean; eggs in a wrap for almost $7! Are you kidding me? It would be one thing if the eggs were great but they are just egg beaters with some nasty cheese type substance on it and there is always oil oozing out of it. And even though I ask for eggs in a wrap and that?s it, they still mess it up by putting pepper or other stuff things in it. Really people, how hard is that? I will not be going back to this establishment, I have given them plenty of chances and they continue to disappoint. Plus their baked goods are tasteless too well unless you think tons of sugar makes for excellent baked goods. I don?t even know how they can put 'bakery' in their name. If you like typical chain food you might like this place, otherwise stay away! Go to West Egg if you really want breakfast.Traditional Brekfast
Today, Sunday, March 1, 2009, I had breakfast with my son at this restaurant. We try to do breakfast every Sunday as a way of keeping in touch. The atmosphere is nice. There is a flat screen T.V. that is not too distracting for those who are into reading the paper or cruising the net. The set up is similar to La Madeline on a smaller scale but not as cozy. You place your order at the counter and give your name. A server will bring your order to you. The server got part of my order wrong but it was corrected without a problem. The food is average, nothing special. The price was appropriate for down town Atlanta. The bill came to $16.00. This included coffee for my son, the standard southern breakfast for both of us except that my son had french toast and I had a cheese omelet. There was no indication of what was in the omelet and I neglected to ask so I was a little disappointed to see just cheese, actually a little to much cheese (smile). The toast was a little cold. It was just a regular breakfast. My number #1 restaurant in the metro area remains Sun-In-My-Belly but I am looking for a replacement, kind of burned out of a good-thing :)Worldwide > United States > Atlanta, GA > American Restaurants
