Nice job, exceeded expectations

We have used Golans three times for three different moves and we have been satisfied customers every time. They are always on time if not early. I like that they send a crew chief that speaks English very well and meets with you at the beginning of the move to go over the game plan. Then he directs the crew to carry out any special instructions. Their pricing seems competitive, and Golans website very clearly communicates move details and pricing. Over the course of all three moves, they only scratched one Ikea CD tower that was only worth $40 anyway. Everything else was perfect, even the breakables.

Barefoot movers, crushed and wet boxes

When the movers arrived -- several hours late -- they barely spoke english. One was barefoot. Several of our items, in addition to water damage, were broken or missing. The movers accidentally left a shipping schedule of all the deliveries they were making on their trip, and it turned out our stuff had traveled from Chicago to Georgia to Florida to South Carolina and to North Carolina before showing up in DC. I'm guessing that's what helps them keep costs low, but also contributed to the crushed, wet boxes that held our belongings.

Golan's is awful. We moved from Chicago to Washington DC and 5 of our boxes arrived wet. WET! How do boxes that are supposed to be on a truck arrive wet? Customer service was at Golan's was very hands off after pickup; I was emailed a link describing the process of how to file a claim. No personal contact whatsoever. Also, to file a claim with Golan's you have to use a third party company.

Fast & Quick movers

We were so happy with Golan on our last move. They somehow moved our belongings out of one apt and into another (albeit only 2 blocks away) in less than 2 hours, way under their quote. This is amazing since the apt we were moving out of was up 3 stories on a narrow winding staircase. Nothing was broken and every piece of furniture that was disassembled was reassembled in perfect condition.

On-time and hard-working movers, I will use them again

This is my first time using movers and I did a little research before going with Golan's who had better reviews than the others on citysearch.

I scheduled my move for August 1 at 8 AM. I was impressed when the 3-man team showed up at my door 5 minutes early. They took a count of all the furniture I needed moved, I signed the paperwork and they got to work. They wrapped all my furniture in blankets and secured it with tape. They were very professional. I noticed a few dings on my dining table after it was moved to the new place but that's expected wear and tear after a move. I will definitely use them again.
