Great Travel Bookstore
This is a great bookstore for travel books and maps. It also is a great location for browsing while waiting for a table at the Border Cafe Mexican/Cajun restaurant immediately across the street. Unfortunately, I have heard rumors that they may be closing in the near future (if they have not already done so). Among the books and maps I have bought here are maps of the Australian outback, topographic maps of the Massachusetts area, books on hiking in Arctic Alaska, and many others.

Globe Corner Bookstore, not to be confused with the Boston Globe Bookstore (which I think is now closed anyway), is a store specializing in travel materials. Their map collection is really cool. You can get pretty much any sort of map imaginable here, including historical maps, specialty maps (like hiking maps), road maps, and your regular wall maps. They also sometimes have lectures at the Church across from the Harvard Square T stop. I don't like to travel, so the Globe Corner Bookstore fulfills my globe-trotting needs.
