MANAGER WHO IS RUDE
Went several times a month, held three private parties upstairs. Came one night without a reservation and received the manager's rath. As I left I heard him commend to the customers about me. I returned to tell him I wouldn't be back and suggest that others do the same.great service, top notch food
One of, if not my number one, favorite place! The food is top notch, the place is very cool, the service is great, and it just feels right for a special occasion or just stopping in on a Friday night. It is a bit pricey, but for the experience you get, well worth it. I have been here several times and have always been very happy.Manager is uncivilized!!
This would be a great place to visit regularly if was not for the manager.I have always made a reservation, but that does not make a difference. He portrays the place as a private club,so unless you are willing to visit quite often you will denied respectable service.I would think it would better in the current economy.Manager is a loser
I went there on Saturday night with my wife. The manager acted like he was annoyed from the minute we walked in, probably b/c the place was pretty empty. When he started loudly berating the busboy right in front of us, my wife told him that he was acting very unprofessional and he should lower his voice. He started arguing that he was acting very professional, at which point we decided to leave. While we're waiting for our coats, my wife started telling a fellow patron how rude the manager was to us, at which point he comes barreling up from the back of the restaurant telling her how she can't talk to his customers. She tells him she'll talk to whoever she wants to, at which point he tries to get in her face until I step in his way. He skulks to the back of the restaurant and sits there muttering under his breath and staring at us until I finally ask him what he keeps looking at. He yells across the restaurant that he doesn't need our business, I yell back that I think he does, and we turn around and leave. Unbelievable.RUDE SERVICE INSULTING OWNER
Today I booked a business lunch for two at 1pm. The restaurant was empty and for a good reason. I asked the owner for a refill on my coffee, that I was having with my lunch, and he told me to ask the waiter(who was no where to be found),When I asked for a second refill with dessert the owner complained to me that "this was not a diner" .When I asked him "if he was joking?" he replied" no I was expecting too much for a $35 lunch", I was stunned and embarassed in front of my lunch guest. I really should have made a scene but instead I called him tonight, after the dinner crowd, to complain. He retorted"don't come back!"A Bad Time Had By All
Do not be a one time, two time, three time, or four time neighborhood customer. The best place ever!
Once you try the food at Girasole wherever you go after that is not taste!it's just the best food, and a perfect service!they always treat us great, never rush!it's more then just the BEST!I want to thank to the owner and all of his employs!very good job guys!:))NUTBALL OWNER...DO NOT PATRONIZE
I don't use alcohol and it's my custom to order a large bottle of sparkling water and a burgundy glass. Last night, at Girasole, I took a sip and had just put my glass down when the owner came flying through the dining room, swooped down and grabbed my glass and started screaming at the waiter that this was a red wine glass.....not a water glass....and took it away. Screaming all the way to the back of the restaurant. The waiter told him that I'd requested that kind of glass and I shall not dignify his response. When I wrote my Zagat review of Girasole last night, I decided to read through the comments and saw that a huge number of Zagat participant/critics are taken by "the psychotic behavior", "the unpleasant behavior", this man's "gesticulating tantrums". Never before have I seen anything like it. We have been occasional clients of Girasole for 15 years or so and have noticed that this man occasionally yells at his staff. I chalked it off to a cultural thing. But last night was over the top and, of course, we'll never return. Surely, we can navigate two blocks further uptown to Nicola where they are extremely nice.worst Muscato d'asti
The food was very average. Centolire has far better pasta. The manager offered us a free glass of Muscato d"asti after dinner. We, of course, were thrilled until we tasted the flat wine he attempted to pawn off on us. Average service. Average ambience. Average food.A great find
We were drawn to Girasole on the strength of its 35% off policy for dining at 8:30pm or later, but once there, we were very impressed by the flavorful food, the bistro ambience and the good service. Its Italian fare is innovative in its mix of flavors and textures and it is also very reasonably priced. We will definitely be back.Improving
This place has gotten the hint that it needed an attitude adjustment. The food has always been good, now they run the business in a much more welcoming manner. It doesn't hurt that they offer 35% off after 8:30..Worldwide > United States > New York, NY > Italian Restaurants
