Terrible Experience, but Good food
I went to the Floretine Cafe with my husband for our anniversary. We ordered appetizers and meals. My Caprese salad was very small - especially when I saw the huge one that was served to the table next to me. My meal came and was delicious, as was my husband's. I could not finish it all, so I asked the waitress to wrap it up for me. She never returned with it, and when I asked her about it she said, "Oh you wanted it. I didn't hear you say that." She walked away and never came back (she had already given us the check by-the-way without even bothering to ask about desert). When I contacted the owner, he was not willing to do anything until I gave him the check # from the receipt. I did not keep the receipt but I told him all the info about the day and what we had, where we sat etc. I asked him to please look in his records for that day to see that there had in fact been a check for the items I listed. He finally told me he sent me a gift certificate in the mail, but several days later it hadn't arrived. I contacted him and he told me he thought I was trying to scam him and that he would send me the certificate if it was returned to him through the mail. I will never eat there again, and it is a shame because the food was good. Poor customer service is such a terrible thing.Best & Biggest Martini *******
All you need is one and be very careful!!!!!!!! if you have two!!!!!!!!!! The name Martini has become an all-encompassing appellation. Stretched to include a rainbow assortment of liqueurs, mixers, spirits and garnishes, it blankets the cocktail category ?? when oftentimes the concoction is simply a drink in a specialized glass. This is not likely to change, so marketing Martinis has become something every bartender, must do daily and the Florentine Is # one In my book. ******* Parking in North End is not good So dont Drink and Drive!! I will be there when the Pats WIN this sunday Against Colts watching it in HD on the 50" Plasma YEA With some Lobster Ravioli for half time.Good wait staff
The place was clean, and wait staff we had was really accommodating and very professional. I think that's what made up for the food. I ordered Linguini con vignole (linguini n' clams) in red sauce. It said on the menu it would be a little spicy but what it need was spices. It was a bit cold when it was served. My husband had the filetto and he raved about the risotto. The filet mignon was ok- didn't have any taste (seemed they forgot to add spices...again or at least salt and pepper). It was a meal for no taste buds.Worst in the N.E
It can't get any worst then this place, the service is below average and the food tasted like it was made in the microwave, the yelling in the kitchen, the bartenders are the managers and they're very rude and arrogant, the downstairs has a horrible smell!!!!!!!! I will never comeback here again and stay away from this below average place.Don't be lured by its charm-- it's not worth it!
I went to Florentine Cafe last night for dinner and I was severely disappointed. The large crowd of people inside made the restaurant lookpromising, but the food definitely did not deliver. We ordered the calamari and the black peppper pasta dish with lobster, scallops, and small clams. The calamari was pretty good, but the marinara had a funky taste. The size of the pasta dish was ridiculously small-- the description of the dish made it sound like you were getting a large amount of seafood, which sadly was not the case. The lobster they promised was a third of a tail, there were two tiny scallops, and about 5 little neck clams, which were well, little... not to mention that all the seafood was overcooked as well. I think the gentleman sitting at the other table put it perfectly when he exclaimed, "$24 for 8 ravioli?" The caliber and amount of food we got was definitely not worth even $10. So please, don't be lured by the charm of the open windows and the large crowd of people-- there are better ways to spend your money!!Avoid at all costs
The North End is well known for an abundance of wonderful Italian restaurants, so I am not sure how The Florentine Cafe snuck in under the radar. What I love about restaurants in Little Italy is the authenticity, ambiance, service and, of course, the cuisine! Unfortunately, for the unsuspecting patrons, The Florentine Cafe falls woefully short.Worldwide > United States > Boston, MA > Restaurants
