I went in for a perm...

A few years ago I had hair down to my rear end. It wasn't thin, it wasn't think...it was just right for a spiral perm. So, I go into this Sam's and an older woman scooped me up really quickly. She sat me in a chair and it took 5 hours to do the perm. She kept taking customer after customer while I just sat waiting...before she even touched my hair. She wouldn't let anyone else touch me, but I had no idea otherwise I would have spoken up.

When the perm was all done, she asked if I would like it layered. I said no, not one bit. She said it would make the curls more bouncy and all, but I hate layers with my perms so I said absolutely not. She 'trimmed' my hair and I went on my way next door to DQ for a quick lunch. When I was done eating, something about my hair didn't seem right. I went into the bathroom and SCREAMED. I was a french poodle...with lots of DEEP LAYERS!!! I don't know how she did this without me noticing, but I had just spent $175 for my hair to be done the way *I* wanted and she messed it up.

I ended up going back in that night and I had to have my perm taken out and they had to use the shortest layer to even out my hair. I lost 28 inches of hair. It was to my jaw line and it was horrible. They did all they could, but she did a number on my hair.

Be careful. Make sure that if you don't have an appointment, you do NOT let an older woman put you in a chair and claim you. Speak loudly that you want next available and make sure that you don't let them snip a single hair unless you check what they are doing. Since this had never happened to me before, I didn't know to watch like a hawk...I was trying to get some rest after working a 70 hour workweek. I think her name was Mary, but I am not sure. Just make sure you pick who you want after watching how they work on other people. Visit the day before just to watch for 20 minutes. You don't want to lose all of your hair like I did.
