Two engines! I purchased a used 2000 Toyota Corolla from Executive Auto Center in Bellingham, MA. My intention was to give my daughter a dependable vehicle to take to college. Let me diverge for a minute and give some background on myself. I typically buy used cars because that's the way I was brought up. "Cars depreciate" my father told me...don't waste your money on cars. So I try to find good running used vehicles. The other thing I do often is try to buy from private sellers because I don't trust most used car dealers and figure there is no sense paying extra to get a warranty that in reality will not be honored. After approximately one month my daughter came home from college and I noticed that the Corolla was very low on oil. I filled it and after a week it was down a quart. I called Chad, the owner of Executive Auto and told him that the car he sold me was burning oil. He asked me to bring the car in and to let his guys check it out. I brought it in on a Saturday morning, and they checked it out promptly even though they were very busy with inspection stickers. They inspected it for oil leaks, changed the oil and put in an additive that was designed to help engines that are burning oil. There was no charge. After another week passed the car was again down another quart. I called Chad and he asked to see the car again. His mechanics checked the car again and found no leaks-they were convinced that it was burning oil. Chad asked me what I wanted to do. I said that burning a quart of oil per week was excessive. He asked me "Do you want me to replace the engine?"--I said yes and verified that it would not cost me anything because the car was sold with a 90 day guarantee on the engine. Chad agreed. I dropped the car off a week later for Executive to replace the engine with a used engine from a salvage yard with similar mileage. Chad offered to loan me a car...I don't believe most used car dealers do that. They had the job done in two days but called to tell me that the replacement engine did not sound right. They asked to run it a while to test it further. As it turned out, the engine delivered by the salvage yard was not acceptable. Executive had the salvage yard deliver a second engine which they installed promptly. Chad showed me both engines that did not work out. EXECUTIVE AUTO INSTALLED TWO ENGINES IN MY CAR AND CHARGED ME NOTHING. No labor charge, no shop material charges, none of the other charges that dealers usually add on to "pad" the charge. They charged me NOTHING. He just handed me the keys with a smile and was very happy to present me with a good running car. I am 62 years old and have never had a story like this to tell. I guess everyone deserves to have one good used car story in their lifetime. I got mine. My impression of Chad is that he is a hard-working, well-meaning young family man who is trying to build a business during hard economic times. He may sound a bit stressed at times, but so does everyone else trying to make a living these days. I am telling this story because we tend to submit reviews more often when we are dissatisfied, and less often when we are pleased. I do not know Chad or anyone else at Executive and have tried to describe everything that happened accurately. I appreciate what they did and wanted to make sure I gave credit because it is certainly due. After all, I am not talking about a complaint about a water pump or brakes here...I am talking about 2 engines installed at no charge. Awesome! FH (Rehoboth, MA)

Extremely unprofessional and rude

My wife and I had gone here many times over the past couple years. Seemed to be nice people. Then, I went for this year's sticker. I failed for front tires and license plate. The tires were understandable; actually they were still legally roadworthy because they were about 1/16” before the wear indicator. But I was planning on changing them soon anyway. The old style green MA plate I have didn't look so bad to me. After reading up on the state law for plate requirements, it states that it must be legible from 60 feet away. I went to the registry to see why there would be a problem and was lucky enough to see a registry officer in the front area. Long story short, he looked out the window and read my plate from well over 60 feet and said that it looked fine. So, after my tires had been replaced, I called Executive to talk with the owner that I had spoken with before. I asked if he would reconsider the plate after telling him about the registry officer's opinion. He almost instantly went into screaming mode. I was just trying to have a conversation, while he was yelling about protecting his inspection license and whatever. I told him that he would no longer have my business and it basically got to him saying, "you wanna talk tough? Come down here and..." and other threats. Seems more like he wanted to "talk tough”. I simply tried to resolve a situation that seemed like it was his opinion over the word of the law. After screaming continuously about how he "didn't need my business” and "he didn't have time for this *%$”, I asked "but you have time to scream and yell about it?”. To which he replied "come down here and I'll show you what I have time for!”. Such a childish idiot. I had read a similar on-line review about the owner being a hot head, but didn't really believe that these guys, who were always very nice before, would act like that. Now I understand. Anyway, will never be going back to this jackass and would advise the same to anyone and everyone.
