WARNING: USE AT YOUR OWN RISK The new owner, Chris, refuses to talk with me and will only offer me $150 for replacing the clothing of mine that he lost...an entire hamper. I have waited six weeks for that decision. I had used Doug's Laundry for 9 years without a problem. The hamper he lost contained 14 men's snap closure shirts and 4 pairs of men's cargo pants. The cargo pants aren't much of a problem to replace, but the shirts are only available right now locally at Shepler's for $50 per shirt plus tax. I have searched online and at thrift stores and this is a real problem locating the snap closure shirts which Ray must have due to his severe psoriatric arthritis and screws in his finger. He can't use buttons at all. I offered to settle this claim for $250 to $300 and Chris would not budge. That was before I realized just how uncooperative he was and what a hassle this is turning out to be. Furthermore, Doug's does not provide receipts for items left for cleaning let alone itemized ones showing exactly what was left in their care. I only know because we keep a list of what we are taking in. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau of which he is not a member and they will give him 30 days to respond. I hope to settle this through mediation/arbitration with them. However I am prepared to take him to small claims court if necessary to satisfactorily resolve this situation. I did not know that Doug's had a new owner until this problem arose, otherwise I never would have entrusted a complete stranger (and evidently an absentee owner) with my new clothing.
