I have been in the healthcare field for the past five years and Carousel Pediatrics has been the worst office I have EVER seen! First I would like to add that I did not take my own children, I took a few of my friends children for her and I was amazed at the poor service. I took my friends children in for a well exam and I to my disbelief an exam was not done. When we were called back after waiting 2 hours in an over crowed waiting room I was ready to commit suicide. I do appreciate the fact that there where no toys in the waiting room preventing the spread of illness but I do not appreciated the unorganized walk in policy which contributed to the long wait. If your office has decided to do walk in sick appointments then you should have physicians schedule to see the walk-ins only, and the other physicians scheduled to see the scheduled appointments. Also, you should consider scheduling appointment for well exams every 30 minutes and provide the full 30 minutes to the child and parents. Continuing with my story, once we were called back the nurse was very sweet and polite while being very patient. Once we where in the room we waited another 30 to 40 minutes before we saw the physician and as all parents know children tend to get a little stir crazy. Luckily I brought back up gameboys. Once the doctor entered the room she asked the usual well exam questions, listened to their lungs, orders vaccines then left. That was it! What about the exam. If Im not mistaken you must check joints, feel abdomens, and all the other procedures that are taught in medical school. Dont get me wrong! Since I have experience in the medical field I completely understand the evil insurance called Medicaid. I understand that they do not pay crap and most of the time you lose money. This, in turn, causes a practice to see as many patients as possible to make a profit so that salaries can be paid along with the bills. Does this in turn mean children should lake adequate medical care? After this visit I did not want to return to the clinic but my friends child was not to happy during a blood draw so I decided to rescheduled the appointment so that it would be him, his mother, the nurse, then McDonalds. What happened next was even more disturbing then the lack of organization. When his mother took him back to the clinic the nurses asked here what blood work was needed? She then called me and asked me what they had ordered a month ago. I was so angry. I thought medical offices kept little things called charts that keep medical information on file such as blood work needed. I told her to tell them to look in the thing that looked like a paper folder and read the doctors orders. Before we hung up I told her not to let them draw her childs blood and to get the medical records and run. BEWARE. BEWARE. BEWARE. THE ONLY REASON I GAVE ONE STARE IS BECAUSE YOU HAD TO.
