I have taken two vehicles to Briggs & Sons over the past couple of years. They are professional and upfront and inexpensive on oil changes, rotations, etc. However I have found that they misled me on a leak in my brake fluid lines and they would have charged me twice what the dealership charged me to fix my brake pads. I would not consider Briggs and Sons if you need major car repair work done, but I will continue to take my car there for basic maintenance.Tire Care
I live in Winston Salem. In May, 08, I bought two tires at Black Tire in Myrtle Beach. Six months and 7,000 miles later, the tires had no thread. I called a Black tire store in Raleigh, which was closer to where I live and the person I spoke to said to bring the car down and they would take a look at them. I drove to the store on Forum Dr. I expected to at least have the tires prorated. They not only changed the tires, they balanced them and didn't charge me for the new tires. I did have to pay a difference for a different tire. They offered to drive me to a store around the corner while I waited, however I preferred to walk. They called me on my cell phone when they were finished and waited outside the store for me so I wouldn't have to walk in the cold. The store is a two hour drive from where I live however I will take the drive when I am ready to buy tires next time. They are wonderful.Do NOT use these mechanics!!!
I learned about Black's Tire from a promotion and took my vehicle there for an oil change. While I had no issues with the oil change I went back for a simple battery, alternator test, as my vehicle had not been starting as well in the cold months. When I called them later that afternoon, They told me that I needed a new battery and my alternator needed to be replaced and quoted me $675 to replace the battery and alternator. This seemed like a lot, so I called around to a few places to check some prices. I found a place that was highly recommended and would do the same service for $475. When I went to get my car from Black's Tire to take to the other place, they insisted on showing me the issues. They pointed out the corrosion on the battery and I acknowledged that it needed to be changed but suggested I could replace the battery myself. They then stated that the alternator was pumping out 14 volts and they think there are not enough amps. The words that went through my mindboycott blacks tire myrtle beach
Blacks tire in myrtle beach should at all costs be advoided. Twice they took adavange of me while on vacation Van broke down was charged for a fuel pump and fuel filter pump was never changed had the dealership check it for fuel smell when i got back tank had never been dropped when i com-fronted him he laughed and said have a great day. the second issue i had brakes looked at and was told they would never make it back to pa so again i trusted them but asked for the parts brakes were at 6/32 which are above change spec's by aleast 3/32 when i question the mech he said the spacer shim wasmissing and that made the brakes bad. the spacer shim is a anti rattle part and no way makes them bad. They are thefts and take advantage of vacationers. I plan on filing a law suit when i go back down to recover money that was stolen DaveRude People
Rudest business in town. Solicit in neighborhood after dark even though it's marked "no solicitation". When asked not to solicit - said "it's not against the law just because you put up a sign that says no solicitation". Continued to solicit. Had work done there once...overcharged and rude then too. Repairs had to be redone at another shop. Beware!!!Worldwide > United States > Raleigh, NC > Tires
