I would NOT recommend that anyone live in this apartment complex. Most places in Columbus have deals on security deposits, Bennington Pond usually doesn't because they have EVERY INTENTION on keeping your security deposit when you move out. I am a good tenant, pay my rent on time and have NEVER had my security deposit taken by ANY apartment complex I have ever lived in. I lived at Bennington Pond for less than a year because I took a job 2 hours away. I signed a years lease but I did not break it, I actually lived in the apartment for 9 months and it sat empty for the last three. Meanwhile, I paid rent on 2 apts, very expensive. I was single at the time, no pets and a non smoker. A friend of mine in Columbus did most of the cleaning and packing of my apt for me. I came back on the final day of my lease and deep cleaned and turned in the keys. Six weeks later I get a letter from them telling me they needed to change out the carpet because There were two spots on the carpet they supposedly could not get out(the carpet was old and thin when I moved in, they just wanted new carpet)the new carpet was $609.94 plus they found $83.00 worth of miscellaneous stuff such as dust in drawers,something left in a cabinet etc.. and minus my $300.00 security deposit I OWED them $392.94. My friend and I were OUTRAGED because we both saw the place !!! That apartment was CLEAN!! and what spot on the floor? Their nasty staff emailed me a picture of two small spots left from my sofa feet which were barely noticeable that can come out with soap and water because I had done it before myself. Unfortunately I missed seeing these spots (that's how barely noticeable they were) else I would have cleaned it myself. I ended up arguing with and threatening their nasty staff with a lawsuit and they dropped the amount down to $300.00 which left me owing nothing just losing my sec dep, but that still wasn't good enough for me. After I realized that taking them to small claims court would make me and my friend lose time off work plus travel time etc I ended up not fighting them in court but I really wish I had just based on principle. What's ironic is I have talked to two other ex-residents of BP apts and their stories were almost EXACTLY the same as mine. BP apts either made up or highly exaggerated charges and kept their security deposit as well, coincidence? doubt it. The Columbus area has so many nice apartments I would not suggest living at Bennington Pond. Also it is not the safest area, The hotel next to Bob Evans has had a lot of drug activity and they have transient types staying there because they charge by the week. Don't be fooled by these people, these apartments are not all that, there is much much better in the Columbus area (and none of the games)!
