Cute place.. cute hair!
This charming salon, located in the heart of downtown Carrboro, is great... The stylists are all very talented and friendly... (especially Meredith!). Get your hair done here and you won't be disappointed!Sorry - no honey here!
Service is poor here and some of the staff is snobby. Do not want to pass judgement on the whole staff but two stylists have caused me to boycott this salon by 1) making rude comments about passers-by 2) not fitting me in when I was told that a correction would be possible in a couple of days and 3) scheduling appointments too close together, and running late, and 4) generally poor etiquette for what I consider an "urban" salon!Try it
Rita cut and colored my hair- and I loved it! Very up with the new styles, and the cut grew out beautifully. Everyone should try the Beehive- just don't have anything planned for afterwards.I was a wee bit disgruntled.
The cut itself was decent, but I was surprised that my stylist didn't style my hair at all or put any products in it. I was actually embarrassed of my hair when I walked out. It ended up looking like I had just airdried it or slept on it. I expected a lot more. I wouldn't recommend it.A big plus
The Beehive is wonderful. There was a massive upheaval & most of the problem employees have gone. I always have wonderful service & the new staff members are great!Overpriced
Although I liked the free spirit of this salon, they charged me $190 for an all over color and cut. My hair was neither styled nor blow dried, and I left the salon with wet hair. The color of my hair looked nearly identical to the color I came in with. A stench came from the backroom every time the door was opened. It smelled like garbarge nearly the entire time I was there. I had to wait to get my hair washed because an employee was busy washing her hair. Very unprofessional and overpriced. My stylist was very polite, but the services received were far less than satifactory. I will never return, nor would I recommend the beehive to anyone.A great cut
I've been going here since shortly after I moved to Carrboro over a year ago. I recently moved to Raleigh, and drive back to Carrboro for my haircuts. Lori gives me a great cut that requires little styling and grows out beautifully. A little more expensive than some places, but this hair cut would go for $150-200 in a bigger city. Never tried another stylist here, so I can only speak for Lori's skills. >>>>Sweet as Honey!
I love this quaint, trendy salon! The staff members are super friendly and I always feel welcome. A wide variety of people get there hair done here, whether they are rockers or more on the conservative side, and there is never a pretentious air. Diane does my hair and she always does a great job on my cut/color! There is minimal parking, but WHO CARES?!?....I'd rather walk, due to its super convient location.Especially great for curly hair cuts!
I have had my hair cut by Gray at the Beehive for being styled straight and to be styled curly (my hair is naturally curly/wavy) and I ALWAYS love how she cuts it. In addition to cuts, she does great color and is a natural artist for coloring hair, even for simple colors. The space has a good location for watching the world go by as you get your hair done.I've never been happier with my hair
I have had a love hate relationship with my hair for nearly my whole life. It's curly, and most of the time, when going to a salon, unless the stylist actually has curly hair, there's little effort to understand how mine behaves or the tricks I've learned over a lifetime of battling with it. For a while in college, I resorted to cutting my own hair since most of the time I overpayed for a haircut that was never even much better than what I could do. Cutting curly hair is difficult--if you can do that well, then I can't even imagine what you could do with other types.for fine haired girls
I have very fine and super straight hair and I finally found a stylist with my hair type! Ask for Meredith. She gave me a realistic cut that i can style myself in a few minutes. I have been getting compliments from everyone. It makes such a difference to find a stylist who actually lives with your hair type. She kicks butt! The Bee's Knees
I highly recommend this salon. These girls know what they are doing. I have actually been to all three stylists and while they are different in technique they are all equally great. I have referred many friends and they have all been as pleased with the results as I have. Diane, Meredith and Tonya have all taken the time to consult with me and answer any questions regarding what would be best for my hair type. The best thing is they aren't afraid to tell you what isn't a good look for you. The atmosphere is so relaxed yet fun at the same time. It is a small salon but it only adds to that feeling of comradeship. The decor is awesome too. One simple review is not enough to express how happy I am to have found this little gem of a salon.Best Haircuts!
I can't speak highly enough about the Beehive or my stylist Meredith. I initially tried the salon (and Meredith) on the recommendation of other fine haired clients on this website and was just as impressed. Every time I get a haircut from her I get comments, and in fact most of my friends now go to her after asking where I get mine cut. I love her so much that even though I've recently moved to Rocky Mount (about an hour and a half from Carrboro) I still travel all the way back just to have her cut my hair! The salon itself is also really cute. Its small and trendy but really relaxed and unpretentious. Although I've never gone to any of the other stylists, I've never seen anyone leave with a bad haircut. Price wise they are pretty reasonable, my hair usually costs $40 and its worth it to be able to sit down say "do whatever you want with my hair" (which I often do) and know that its going to look great!A Neighborhood Favorite
Cute salon, fun environment, reasonably priced, easy to tack on a quick trip to Weaver Street Market, which is just across the street. Tonya is a good stylist and is not afraid to be honest if you're asking for something unflattering or that won't work for you. She helped me get through the growing-out phase really painlessly. Also cut my teenaged son's hair -- it looked adorable and he was very happy with it! The only negative for me has been scheduling problems, mostly due to unexpected circumstances on the stylist's end and trouble rescheduling canceled appointments. Saturday slots can be hard to get, so schedule well in advance.I liked my hair...but did not love it
Let me start off by saying that the service was AMAZING!!! The woman who cut my hair (sorry I cannot remember her name) spent a long time with me. She was super nice and chatty and I really liked her. Unfortunately, I did not like my hair, though the damage was not too severe. She did not cut my hair like I wanted, but I also did not come in with a picture, just a verbal description. I also felt like I had too much product in my hair when I left. The salon could do more to create more of a peaceful atmosphere....some nice music would be good. Not the worst experience, not the best either.Best Hair in Chapel Hill/Carrboro
I searched for years (literally) for a great hair stylist and finally found Diane at the Beehive. She spent a lot of time with me, listened to my ideas and told me her ideas. I am a mother of 2 young kids who wanted an easy but edgy style. She gave me a cute medium-length hair cut at first and then we grew it out to a longer shag, which looks sort of rock and roll-ish and is very easy. It also is always fun to go in because everyone who works there is nice and has fun conversations. I highly recommend the Beehive!Best salon I have ever been to. period.
This salon is AMAZING. Meridith Grey is the best stylist I have ever been to and I can honestly say this is the first haircut in many years that I LOVED. She made me look great which makes me feel great, and shes so personable. Highly highly highly recommend. After 3 years of searching... I finally found my salon/stylist!
I moved to Chapel Hill from Los Angeles about 3 years ago. Even after doing exhaustive searching, traveling to Raleigh and the outer limits of the Triangle, I still had ZERO luck with finding a hair salon or stylist that I'm completely happy with. Wouldn't you know it, the place I was looking for was right around the corner. The Beehive is a fabulous salon and Meridith Grey is... just perfect.Worldwide > United States > Carrboro, NC > Beauty Salons and Services
