Since the 1980's, Dr. Richard Gartner has been helping men overcome the trauma of sexual victimization.

Dr. Gartner earned his doctorate and masters degrees in clinical psychology from Columbia University, where he supervised and taught for twenty years. He was awarded a certificate in psychoanalysis from the William Alanson White Psychoanalytic Institute, where he is currently a training and supervising analyst.
He is an accomplished author of several acclaimed books on the subject of male sexual abuse including Beyond Betrayal: Taking Charge of Your Life after Boyhood Sexual Abuse, Betrayed as Boys: Psychodynamic Treatment of Sexually Abused Men, and Memories of Sexual Betrayal: Truth, Fantasy, Repression and Dissociation.
A distinguished psychoanalyst and founding director of the Sexual Abuse Service at the White Institute, he has a private practice in New York City, where, using individual therapy and psychoanalysis as well as couples and group therapy, he continues to assist adult men in recovering from sexual abuse.
