John Richter has been photographing our natural world for the past 18 years. In 2001, John began shooting a large format view camera to capture the immense detail found in nature most accurately.

Creating this body of work has taken me to some of the most extraordinary places on this planet! I have traveled through countless remote and wild locations trying to capture the very essence of that chosen place in a photograph. When I search out a location where nature’s majesty sings and all of the rugged and wild elements give no false premise of their power, I become enveloped in the creative process. My composition is made according to the play of light that will define the moment. When the decisive moment is realized and I pull the shutter release cable, I exhale and time stops! The world and its wonderful stimulus cease for a brief moment leaving only my eyes and my film to record the feeling of that moment! When I bring that magical moment to the darkroom and create the final print, you are experiencing everything I felt in the field. Given the opportunity to study these photographs, you will undoubtedly feel the connection with our planet and the exciting and healing emotions it invokes.

Every image I release as a fine art print has been meticulously selected from thousands of exposures. Each of the images you see here are the very best nature has shown me! It is my honor to share these experiences with you and I am humbled by each of my collectors who have made my artwork a part of their lives! They say every picture is worth a thousand words and each of these photographs certainly tells a story. I want you to really connect with this work, feel it, let it touch you.
