Regrettably, from my own recent experience, I cannot give anything more than one star for The Ironing Crew, which is a shame because often one star reviews are written due to sour grapes from the customer, and are often unjustified. I would have given two stars because the quality of the ironing was good and they offer a drop off and delivery service. So, that's good. However, I've personally had a terrible experience with this business. This review is not intended to be some sort of malicious attempt to do harm to John's family business, nor some kind of 'threat' as John himself told me he thought this review to be. There is no maliciousness here at all. This is simply an honest and objective account of my own personal experience. In a nutshell, The Ironing Crew have lost at least one item of my clothing and are unwilling to offer me compensation for it. In good faith, I dropped off seven bags of clothes for The Ironing Crew to iron and deliver to me. I didn't get them all back, which I consider to be a failure in their supply of goods and services. The turnaround time for the ironing was good and reasonable, taking only a few days, which I agreed to be acceptable. However, after we began to open up the bags of returned ironing, it became apparent that there were several items of clothing spread amongst the bags that did not belong to us. 14 items in total, which included 10 shirts, 3 polo / T-shirts and 1 pair of trousers. Perhaps this was a simple mistake, but this left me wondering about how many items of my clothing may have been delivered to somebody else. So, I contacted John and informed him of the situation, and also told him that I was left with a big doubt about which of my clothes had perhaps gone missing. If they could make such a mistake with somebody else's clothes, then there was every chance that I had some of my own clothes missing. Naturally, and quite correctly John did agree to refund the items of extra clothing that did not belong to me, but only after questioning my integrity about whether or not the extra clothes were in fact actually mine. He suggested that I could have added them in myself. He also surprisingly began to pass judgement on the value of my clothing, saying that I was very lucky to have such clothing, but that I obviously worked hard to get them. Not great customer service in my opinion. In my opinion, I found John to have become very argumentative and he insisted that he had provided me with a service, and that I was somehow asking for a free service. I tried to reassure him that I was happy to pay for the service, however, if there was confirmation that some of my clothing had gone missing, I would be looking for a full refund by way of compensation. I also reaffirmed that the quality of the ironing seemed good and that the delivery service was good. John said that he would need to speak with his insurance company to discuss the situation. I dropped off the extra items that I was aware of at the time to John at the shop, and confirmed that there was at least one of my shirts missing. Again, in my opinion, I found John to be argumentative and actually quite aggressive when I spoke with him face to face. His son also chipped in to tell me that I was being unreasonable by asking for compensation. And again, John unfortunately made further comments of judgement regarding the value of my clothes. Again, he questioned my honesty because he said that the missing shirt had only been dropped off for ironing if I said so. I was shocked by that. John pointed out what their system is, but be careful, because he confirmed that The Ironing Crew do not itemise their customers' clothes when they are dropped off. They do not record how many items they receive in. John again said he would speak with his insurance company and requested that I give him a week, since he was going away for the weekend. After that one week period, I contacted him by telephone to discuss the situation. He informed me that he required me to produce a receipt for the missing shirt, which I consider to be clearly unrealistic, since the shirt is not a new shirt anymore. He insisted that he would not be offering a full refund by way of compensation, but that if I handed in a receipt for it then he would pass it on to his insurance company for them to look at. I offered John the opportunity several times whilst speaking with him about the situation to provide a full refund as compensation for the loss of my clothing, but he repeatedly declined to do that. I did not receive any apology from John at all throughout all of this. I cannot recommend The Ironing Crew to anybody.
