I ordered engineered flooring from Alberta Hardwood flooring. Gordon came out did the measuring, I told him to remove the baseboards and haul them away as I was putting new ones in and he provided a quote for all the work. Before the install I gave Gordon instructions for the installers to call me and I would meet them at the back when they got there so I could give them access to the condo building. It seems my instructions did not matter as the installers did not call me and I found them waiting out front. They started the install and found they had to use leveling compound. I discussed this with Gordon and I asked what the extra cost would be and he said not too much and I told him I wanted the floor in and to proceed. A day later we discussed this again and Gordon said the installer used 25 bags of leveling compound and the cost would be an extra $2000 and I told him a $1000 was more reasonable. The installer started on July 15 a Tuesday and they were there on July 16 a Wednesday for a short time. I checked the condo everyday that week and they never came back until Sunday to do the install. I was told by Gordon they would be there Thursday, Friday and Saturday but he lied to me because they never showed until the Sunday. I think Gordon was just giving me the run around. I went through the installers garbage bag and counted only 15 empty leveling compound bags. I told this to Gordon and he told me ‘what is - is what it is’. I paid the extra $2000 and told Gordon I was not happy about it. They started the install on a Tuesday and where there for a short time on Wednesday and then when I asked Gordon when would they finish I was always given the line they would be there next day and of course they were not there until the Sunday. After the install was complete there are dips in the floor indicating they did not do a good job of leveling the floor. They also reinstalled the baseboards. I asked Gordon why the reinstalled the baseboards and he said it is what it is. I asked Gordon for $100 for me to remove dispose of the baseboards or he could schedule some time the following week for them to do it. Gordon told me it was remove and reinstall the baseboards – I told him no you were to remove and dispose of them. I just want people to know what I have gone through with Alberta Hardwood Flooring and how I was treated and how I was lied to and deceived. I would like a $100 returned for the baseboard issue and as I mentioned before $1000 is a more realistic charge for the leveling compound issue. When I paid Gordon and asked him if he has seen the floor – he said NO – he was never there once to look at what was happening. I emailed the above to the owner of Alberta Hardwood flooring (TWICE) and I never even received an acknowledgment.
